Re: mig question

I always get a lot of grey and white oxide that wipes off when I weld aluminum. Ideally overall, I would convertto using tig on everything, but have a mig due to budget restrictions. I would never go with a fluxcore (ick). I use 75/25 mix for steel, straight argon for aluminum. I never work with sta...

Re: BOTN Great Helm in progress *pics*

The great helm I am currently working on has a one piece top band with a welded seam in the back. I did a rough doming with a steel hammer with a wooden dishing form, trying to not dish it too much. Set in the front crease, then planished it from the inside over an anvil face. During the planishing ...

Re: white buff leather supplier (amended title)

I recieved the two pieces of buff that Mordreth mailed me today. On the brief time I had to play with them, I noticed that the grain is the stiffest part of the leather. I am toying with the idea of removing the grain layer on one of the pieces. Any thoughts on this and the best way to accomplish th...

Re: Mig welder issues.... HELP!!!

Regulate your cfm with a regulator on the tank. I rarely have to feed wire through unless Im changing wire. If its a crimped end, then I usually clean it up with a small, fine file real quick just to save my liner from getting excessive scratches.

I like a co2/argon mix. I believe Im using a 75/25 mix, I would have to check the bottle when I get home. I dont like using straight argon unless Im welding aluminum.

What Iron Dwarf said. Plus make sure that your wire will run through the torch freely as well.

Too bad I'm posting from a phone right now... There's a whole thread on the #13. Mac came to the conclusion that the main leather joining the plates were in fact strips, with a single piece of leather as a liner (if I remember correctly). Honestly, once you get the riveted maille process down, I found it doesnt matter what the ring size, it is all the same process. But! The smaller the rings, the more tedious it becomes. To make the extra small maille, the AR is key. You write that as if any actual decent reproduction mail, function...
