Re: FS: Welded stainless chainmail hauberk - Azon
I bought a pair of sleeves from Charles in this type of maille a while back. Has held up fine in heavy fighting (though don't get hit in the arms much) and weighs almost nothing. Diameter of the rings is very small, but that can be accurate depending on your rigs period. Overall really happy with i...

Re: Concussions and CTE
I am sorry to hear it Lloyd...in a way, you sort of got me 'back' into the whole medieval thing. Back in the late 90s I ran across a write up about you and all of a sudden, I was on fire- and not a little hero worship as I started reading up on it more (jousting, fencing, armor et al). I wish you th...

Re: Hospitaller Armor
Maille's properties w/regard to edged weapons are where it shines; not so with percussive injuries- but then, it was designed to combat the cutting and slashing swordplay of its time. Rattan sticks are much thicker in diameter and that style of fighting is more akin to a bludgeon than a sword- you w...

I have a set of the heat-blued ones w/besagews; Allan does a really fine job of bringing out a nice dark luster and even finish. Even though I have shelved the idea I had for them, I can't seem to let them go. They're too pretty.

I commend you, Bear of Hadchester, on your noble cause. I am nowhere near you, so I cannot avail myself of your challenge but I'll be happy to send some canned goods on if you tell me where to send them. You'll have to imagine me buffeting you about the helm and shoulders.

Re: Can I get some help identifying these swords?
I once bought a similar sword- the furniture looks like wrought iron (think fences, gates) so it'd be aces for an outdoor display which it might have come from originally. You could call them cavalry swords for the sake of putting a name/type to them, I suppose.

I just pick them up with my feet. They generally stick into my feet and then I pick them out :p I wear shoes that are easy to take off and put on though and take them off when I come up from the shop. This; make a pair of shoes your "shop shoes" and wear them only in the shop. Switch to flip flops ...
