Re: Lookin to buy a helmet
The question is- how much are you willing to spend? Hjalmr's helms are the least expensive, and have a rougher aspect to them. The Russian/Ukrainian shops, and Icefalcon seem to fall within mid range of pricing ($300-700 for most of what I've seen) Jackie and WMA make the prettiest helms, expect to ...

Re: War Hammers
Thank you! I don't have a good chance to get a photo outside in the sun until Saturday. You saved me some time. Those warhammers make wonderful items to have around. The heft is nice, the threat is obvioius and I don't doubt that they could make someone's day a bad one if something was to happen. I...

Is there a cloth backing, or are the plates exposed as in the pic? I know it seems like a dumb question, but it doesn't hurt to be sure.

Wow, that's a nice piece there, man. I know a guy who makes these and other style axes, but his work is a bit rougher than this.

Re: The Spear of Destiny
Just another tale to sweeten the mythos of Christ; a lot of people place an inordinate amount of importance on his actual blood (the Holy Grail, Shroud of Turin, et al) where it is the symbology behind it that carries the power, imo. That is not to say that there is no God/Higher Power/Creator or th...

I think the guys/trainers who are appended to this production will hopefully keep it in line with how we view chivalry, but expect some of the reality-tv shenanigans thrown in for the unwashed masses. I expect it to be a higher caliber show.

I think location and period in time were/are the most decisive factors. I'm not near the foremost expert on armor or weapons, but I do know that there are also stylistic differences that a less discerning eye might miss. For instance, the burgonet was chiefly popular throughout the 16th Century, but...

This is a nice piece, I do love the buckles...what does 92cm translate to in inches? Nevermind, I'm 184cm tall so half that would equal a 36" chest, way too small for the likes of me. With my gear and padded gamby, my chest swells to 44" (42" normally).

Oookay, Paladin, ease up there. He wants 1410, not 1310. 18 gauge is a little heavy for brig, but if you're using fewer, larger scales and thus less of the total amount and area taken up in overlaps, it wouldn't be too atrocious. It would really rock for the lung plates, of course. Should work if y...
