Re: Leather Belt
The type of belt you're describing is a couple to few hundred years earlier. I'm assuming you mean like this: http://i670.photobucket.com/albums/vv64/ebonpaladin/Armor/Sword/Irae/SwordoftheEbonPaladinresized.jpg Anyhow, if this is what you're referring to, then the belt wraps around your waist on th...

Re: hive mind -- experiences buying mail from india on ebay?
I've bought from allbeststuff in India. The aventail I got needed a couple moth holes repaired but the price couldn't be beat. Communication was always prompt though the website is a bit misleading as the "in stock" means they have the material to assemble the item listed-it still needs to be made....

I get mine from Oakheart Armory; they do blanks as well as full-on painted shields, curved or not curved, edged or not. They are very pocket-friendly.

Interested in the greaves, I'm not the skinny guy I used to be, but you can't tell my legs that, especially the calves, which are essentially the same size they were in high school. What're the measurements on them? Height, width, gauge, that sort of thing.

If for the SCA, red is a Squire's belt ,knight's belt is white And since everyone on the AA is a member of the SCA, it cannot be a knight's belt. With regards to the SCA, only knights can wear an unadorned (plain) white belt. But they don't HAVE to wear white. They can choose to wear whateve...

I believe most textiles will. I imagine that would've been something they used in antiquity- probably fulled or felted to be softer than regular. Or not. This a question Wolf or Paul can answer.

Well, he got what he asked for from Konstantin - a range of sizes, shapes, weights- all of it publicly available information. I am glad most of the smiths that do it on here seem to go out of their way to be as authentic as possible within the constraints each has set for themselves.

You might try Allan from Mercenary's Tailor; from time to time he makes up a batch of scales...I picked up the last two for a similar idea but he would probably be up for doing it if you contacted him. The ones I got from him were nicely formed, spade shaped. I don't have any pics atm.

Ian, this is fantastic. I've avoided wearing chausses because I could not come up with a method that wouldn't be decried as modern (like suspenders). C-belt, regular belt- either option was uncomfortable after only a very short while. Thanks for sharing, brother.
