Fulled wool in that thickness isn't overbearing to wear by itself? I have no idea, so I ask. I have never enjoyed wearing wool garments against my skin.

It also does not appear, at least in any of these images, that any sort of padded garment was worn underneath the maille. I am not looking to get into the historicity of the gambeson, I'm more interested in how they did it because those iron hauberks had to be heavy.

Re: Article on Physicality of Knighthood
i wonder sometimes...if the tale of a knight were told w/out the usual fanfare and imagery associated with romance, would the requisite bloodshed turn people off of the fantasy of it all? Very few play up that aspect, or when they do, it is couched in language to deaden the impact, as it were. Knigh...

Re: We need to help Sir Brand, aka Jeff Galli, not be paraly
If you don't think its worth it to spend your money on helping him, don't spend it. Its that simple. No need to rag on someone reaching out for help to avoid paralysis. That would be it. You don't want to support the man, or the request, don't. You want to step up and oppose his efforts (or more ac...

Re: We need to help Sir Brand, aka Jeff Galli, not be paraly
There sure are a lot of kickstarter and gofundme requests going around, but when your only recourse is to learn to deal with whatever malady currently afflicting you- would you rather people just dealt with it quietly? Or is asking for help such a horrible practice? As was said, if you don't want to...

Ok, mr. "Paladin74" don`t want to pay, so this helmet still in stock, starting with $100. The guy carrying the three spears, shield and helm- is he altogether naked except for that? Yep, according to the Osprey book, he's a Gesetae (sp), a type of Celtic warrior who fought naked. Some books claim the Gesetae were wandering warriors, travelling throughout Gaul, looking for fights. Kind o...
