I don't know if I'm to be in town for that weekend or not but if I am, I might come through.

Damn...if I buy this, then I won't need that Halberds kit I'm signed up for. I'll call tentative dibs pending other pics (I'd like to see sides, back and inside the bowl if possible) - I won't need the padding or 'required' (what is that anyway) coif.

Re: LF maker for a leather drinking costrel!

Maybe it's cheating, but I use a stainless steel canteen in the appropriate shape and wrap it in leather using the techniques shown in these tutorials. With some creativity you can hide the steel spout with leather, and no one has to know... With the costrel shown in the OP, you can use a wooden on...

Re: LF maker for a leather drinking costrel!

Thorgrimr did mine...it was nice, but took a LOT longer to get than was previously noted by him. Still, it is really nice- although the wooden stopper doesn't quite fit the mouth- if I hold it upside down, water will drip out but it is a nice finished piece and it wasn't too bad of a price.

Re: Any intrest in my "Carlos the Crusader" helm kit?

If he does go that route, I'll have to bow out, unfortunately. As for clothing and armor, you'd go with standard late 12th C to early 13th C stuff I'd think. Undertunic, braies, hosen; long tunic over that. Over that, for arming, you'd want a long gambeson and padded coif, about knee length as your ...

How is your sizing measured? You mention the red gambeson is a M but that doesn't mean much by itself. What type of closure options are you offering? What about padding options- is 'wadded cotton' all you offer or do you offer more historical options, like horsehair or wool? Also, for the liner, is ...
