Re: Negative Reveiw on Rough from the Hammer
Part of the problem might also have been the buyer didn't completely understand what he was getting.

Oh, my bad...was looking at the stainless one. In that case, Belemrys may have a small point.

Re: Negative Reveiw on Rough from the Hammer
Thanks for the support folks. As I haven't heard for the OP since 11/5 and since this thread has been brought to my attention I'll reply here. The order placed on 9/27 was promised to be shipped by the end of Oct. I t was initially shipped on 10/25 albeit to the wrong address. The purchaser made me...

Re: FS: Icefalcon blackened riveted haubergeon (Large)
I disagree, Belemrys...those shirts retail for $600, how much lower do you think he should go for a piece that was never fought in, only worn a few times?
Turns out, I was wrong; apologies to Belemrys.

Re: Norman helms around 1066
But that doesn't explain the Bayeaux Tapestry, and the very distinct look that is given to those helms. Therefore, I am inclined to believe that it was a less common helm at that exact time. The BT shows what seems to be a conical shaped spangen helm, but I haven't seen any extant examples for that...

Re: Attaching Spaulders to Armour
Those upper straps were intended to connect to a gorget's edge. And you have a gorget. Now you want rivet holes in it. Replacing these straps with points will allow tying the spauds directly to your gamby shoulder, if gamby is present. From your response it would seem I should probably rivet the sp...

Re: Negative Reveiw on Rough from the Hammer
This is not the first time I have heard bad things from Rough from the Hammer. Let us assume that this statement is true; if that were so- why did you place your order, 'knowing' what you did when you ordered it? I don't know Dave, have never ordered from RFTH so I don't have a dog in this race but...

This is precisely what I was referring to. I'll have to check Steve's image from home, seems to be blocked here at work.Depending on the time frame you're considering using them to portray (3rd Crusade?), you might want to consider the open-back variety to cut weight.

US Customs is that deep sucking noise you hear in the background...that's the crapshoot part. For my part, the few times I have ordered, the last from Svan, it came in a reasonably timely fashion. I was actually surprised (and pleased). I'm not as certain of it as I am of domestic shipping, altho of...

Re: What sort of abilities would a "knife wrestler" have?
Might consider 'perks' - as class-type upgrades like the ability to automatically determine weak points in armor (could be tied in with 'experience') and/or maybe the ability to purchase/upgrade daggers with a + type of empowerment to weaken an opponent's overall armor rating. If you use the usual s...

I'll be honest, I have no idea what they did in period...but I would like to know. I'm angling toward a 13th C impression (1275 let's say) and this is something I'm going to have to contend with at some point.

Re: What to point maille chausses to?
I can't really help you, at least not with a historically plausible alternative- unless you went early Crusades where the chausses were more like a sheet of maille that overlaid the front and part of the side of the thigh was tied end to end behind the leg. Had a pic and can't find it now. One of my...
