Can I attach soupcan knees to the GDFB cuisses?
And will they fit a guy who is 5' 10 1/2' and 195 lb?
If so, dibs.
And one last question -- where were you a couple of weeks ago before I spent $110 on mild steel soupcan knees???

Re: Recommended glove for gauntlets?
I use goatskin ropers for gloves (although not yet in gauntlets). They may not be as nice as elk or kangaroo, but at less than $10 a pair at Northern Tools, they are good enough.

Re: Who's doing Corizina Kits??
Well, if Mad Matt doesn't get enough takers on the Wisby #7 kit, I may go with one of these kits.
They both look good.

Re: ACL/BotN Armour and Realigning Expectations with Realit
In about a 12 year time frame I figure that I've spend about $80,000 on skydiving and BASE jumping. During my 1st year skydiving in 1996-1997 my inital skydiving instruction, my first set of gear, and 100 jumps cost me $10,000 all up. Today the same thing would cost around $15,000 all up. I do not ...

Re: Covering the nasty "P Word"?
Yeah; the only thing they don't like about roofing nails is the heads are so big. Something smaller diameter is wanted for the true look. 'Less'n you want to put the roofing nails through some kind of custom swage to give then that crimped, mushroomed shape or a conical one before you use them. Som...

Sir Nigel, the video of our action-packed fight in the finalists single elim tourney is up on my youtube channel (link in my sig below). I enjoyed our fierce crossing of blades, and hope you will honor me with a rematch at some future tourney! Beautiful footwork in that bout. A joy to watch. Cheers...

I would like to echo Dietrich's statements, as a visitor from Ansteorra, i was impressed at what great hosts the Middle Kingdom was :) I got to fight quite a bit, and made several new friends. Look forward to coming back next year with more friends in tow. I highly suggest it to any who hasn't made...

Re: coat of plates kits. Now taking orders!!
Just a few clarifications, Matt (for me and the interested folks on Facebook). 1. Is this the Wisby #7 your #7 kit is based on (except yours is side opening)? http://www.hoashantverk.se/hantverk/hoas_rustningar/image/suit_of_armour_no_07_inside.jpg 2. Is your Kussnasch side opening, too? 3. What are...

What's the #7 look like? Anything like the one on Matt's page? It looks like this (if Hoas has it correctly - http://www.hoashantverk.se/index.html ): http://www.hoashantverk.se/hantverk/hoas_rustningar/image/suit_of_armour_no_07_front.jpg http://www.hoashantverk.se/hantverk/hoas_rustningar/image/s...

Re: Checking for interest in coat of plates kits.
Matt, why the No. 7 coat? Is it easier to make than the No. 1?
Never mind - 20 plates vs. 8 plates. I'm thinking the No. 7 would be much easier to fabricate.

Re: SCA Leather Neck Protection Requirements
18 gauge mild steel is minimum "rigid" material per Ansteorran regs and a gorget of rigid material alone is sufficient. Therefore, 18 gauge on leather would be more than sufficient.

They looked Wisby-like, a lot of them. Late-thirteenth memorial effigies would be where your correspondent ought to look. Also the history references in MyArmoury. Are there SCA considerations here, or is this something your friend needs for Living History? Knowing these points would refine the des...

Evolution of Gauntlets
I have a question for a person on Facebook regarding the evolution of gauntlets. That is, when is the first documentable use of plate gauntlets in Western Europe. The original question was: "Looking at getting some full gauntlets. Just can't seem to figure what style would be used for my late 13th c...

I want to replace the body with something more flexible (CoP, Lamellar, Brigandine) and after all that I’m sure the rest will need to be adjusted. Well, that's the maximum spread of such choices! We'd say to choose in harmony with your helmet: CoP = 14th-century Euro; Lamellar = Huns, Mongols, Turk...

Wow. I wish I had the bucks. You willing to part it out??? Possibly, but would like to wait a bit first. *If* it does get parted out prices would be closer to what I paid initially. Still not bad, but not at such a deep discount. What piece/s are you interested in? Probably the legs and the brig. B...
