Thank you for the good review. Here's a picture of what I put together. I sized them for Ld. David de Clermont s wrist, forearm and forearm length. I used a snap closure, leather hinge, rolled the wrists and formed the elbow portion a little closer to the elbow profile to allow the armour to be bette...

sizes anyone?

I sized them for my arms, what measurements would you like to see? I need to know the distance from the inside of the elbow to the point on your wrist where you want the armour to end, and the diameter of the wrist and forearm. Also how much padding you plan to use. No stainless yet, I haven't come ...

Gauntlets didn't sell. so I relisted them at a lower price, both the starting bid and the buy it now. Also, bazuband auction and gorget auctions run out today. Seven watchers on the bazubands and 2 on the gorget!

If it's just for SCA the cheapest option would be butted although it won't hold up as well as the riveted/ solid combo. If it is for realistic reenacting, I would go with riveted/solid in as small a diameter ring possible (1/4 inch max), plain steel wire , round rivets. Guess it sounds like I've bee...

I used to make 250 to 300 on midrange helmets, then the Indian invasion took place and helms that used to go for 275 are going for 185. I find it hardly worth the effort to make helms anymore. They just don't pay as well as other pieces when you figure out how many hours you need to spend on one. No...

Let me check on getting some more aluminum. If you could, try to get some sizes on your friends hands. I have my wife and two teens here for hand models if your friend aproximates one of them. Hand length from tip to palm, wrist diameter length of thumb distance, acrosss 4 fingers.

The most important tool is a good eye. Without it you won't be able to figure out how to form the metal right to get what you want. All the expensive tools in the world won't help if you don't have the "eye". This isn't machine shop, this is metal sculpture.

Armourers Taking the Money and Running?

What is going on out there where armourers that have been in business for years are suddenly taking large comissions and scampering with the money? I've been on this site for years and have never seen anything like this. People that I consider to be the pillars of this little society have become cro...
