Perhaps you need to start ealier. I'm refering you back to the thread by Rev. JC who was looking for a knight marshal and some fighters to help out with a youth program. Maybe the focus should shift away from college age and more toward high school age. Start a youth program welcome the young people...

My 4 inch ball is from a cast iron ornamental fence, my 2 inch is a modified trailer hitch. I've been using them for 3 years and although they are scratched up a little it doesn't matter because they are used to form and planish from the inside of the piece where the finish will not effect the outsi...

Turner joint?
I'm looking for an example of a period turner joint. I understand the principle of a raised beed in a groove to allow a degree of rotation but would love to see a pic. Anyone have one?

I'm sorry, I meant recurve composite bows of horn sinew and wood. Wrong term. Much longer range than a self bow. But again as for mobility I don't think the templars could match the romans for mobility once engaged, the maniple, century and legion were built with the idea of moving just the right amo...

Exactly how are the missile weapons of the templars better than the Romans? The roman archers had compound bows, the slingers lead bullets, we are not even talking about the heavy artillary, versus the long bow? COME ON!!! Engage and disengage at will, we are talking about the highly mobile and adap...

The way to settle this is to pitch this senario to some underclassman at West Point and have them run a couple of dozen senarios to see who wins. I have to favor the Romans, first because I believe discipline will defeat a rabble and because I read the series " The Legion of Vedessos" (spelling?) by...

The outside edges of those plates are rounded and will rock back and forth under a direct hit decause of the leather articulation . Also, look at the placement of the thumb. The model is holding his thumb up to make it look like it will work but there is no way you will be able to close your fist ar...

hammer review
Just a follow up review of the autozone hammer. I've been using it for a couple of months now and am happy to report that it is well crafted cheapo hammer with a good hard face. I spent about twenty minutes cleaning up the face when I first got it and have used it on about ten projects since then. T...

Forging Tech Embraced!
I just had to share. My son just used my old forge to straighten his bent bumper brackets for his truck and has caught the bug. He seems to have forgotten the brackets which straightened out like they were made of butter and is now straightening a pile of old leaf springs to make swords and daggers....

Brick hammer to Raising hammer mod?
I got a real nice brick hammer today and wish to modify it into a raising hammer by cutting a bit off the chisel end and grinding the correct profiles into each end. My only problem is trying to decide whether to slightly radius each end or have them straight across. I was thinking about slightly ra...
