Re: LF Coat-of-Plates/Brigandine
Thanks for the replies! The more I think about it, the more I would like to try and attempt to make it. Think I will go with your canvas idea, as it is WAY cheaper from what I can see. I have scoped out a couple of sites but any recommendations would be fantastic! Also, have found Mad Matt's Armory,...

LF Coat-of-Plates/Brigandine
Looking for cheap, decent looking CoP/Brigandine. Chest without anything but a t-shirt is ~47" (I don't know what other measurements might be needed). I have looked into making my own, and I know that Polar Bear Forge has a plate kit for sale for good money, but I would still need leather and have n...

Re: Looking for chain mail
Thanks for the reply! I have checked out that thread and the problem is that Icefalcon and the other vendors I saw in there were very expensive. I am not necessarily looking for new maille, used is a-okay in my book. I definitely think Icefalcon has the nicest selection but his stainless riveted stu...

Looking for chain mail
I'm looking for a stainless steel, riveted (don't know which is better, dome or wedge, so if someone could lay out pros/cons that would be great) haubergeon (half sleeves). my chest is about 48", gut is a few more... i figure I've got a big belly but my other measurements are about normal, so just a...

Re: Chainmail Recommendation Please
I notice that all of Kult of Athena's stuff is 17ga maille, isn't that too thin for heavy combat?

Re: valsgarde helm kit
Sooo uh how much for you to construct one for me?
Seriously though this is the coolest helm but i have not an inkling of tools nor armourer's knowledge to make it myself. So if you or someone else could help me out i would be greatly indebted.

How to figure out my nationalities?
Sorry for the vague subject title, and extra sorry for this possibly not being the correct place to post this question, but I have no idea where it might go. I'm very interested in joining the SCA, and would like to develop a persona that actually fits me. I want to be me in whatever century I feel ...

Re: Which gauge wire for chain mail?
Haha, I'll certainly make sure not to do that... maybe haubergeon is what I'm looking for then. I at first wanted long sleeves but I'm not entirely sure I do now, I'm still messing around with ideas.
Thanks for the input!

Re: Which gauge wire for chain mail?
Yeah I was buying my wire at Ace Hardware. How would I go about ordering a roll like that, just ask the people working about it? The reason I'm buying 200ft at a time is that I don't have a job/steady source of income, so I have to get it here and there... though maybe I'll just save up a bit to get...

Re: Which gauge wire for chain mail?
I think I meant hauberk, I want something that goes down to my mid-thighs. Thanks both of you for your input! I'm on a bit of a budget so was planning to use galvanized steel wire, and where I would be getting it from 200ft of 16ga is the same cost as 100ft of 14ga, so I think I will end up going wi...

Which gauge wire for chain mail?
I'm interested in making a chain mail hauberk myself. It will be butted mail, and while I probably won't be fighting in it, I'd like it to make it look and feel authentic, and just in case I *do* decide to fight a bit in it, I'd like it to be able to stand up to that. I was just wondering what gauge...
