Jeff J., the ring brooches associated with the skeletons at Chalsis are thought to have been used to secure hosen to a braie-girdle, as they are found over the hip bones.

Mac weared his breeches and hosen that way and it seems to work just fine.

Just a thought.

Flonzy, look through Arnold again because there are several men's outfits that have lace on sleeves. The reason you might have missed it is because they don't look anything like the tie on sleeves 'a la Zefirelli's Romeo and Juliet that one sees at RenFaires and other places. The look with the decor...

The short definition of "living history" to me is selecting a moment in time and then trying to recreate it as accurately as possible, down to all the small details. Some reenactors focus on the "big picture" and don't notice things like machine stitching and fake fur while others start a new suit o...

I've been following this thread but I'm still not clear what is meant by "traveling bag".

A noble on pilgrimage would have entirely different things than he would if he were moving house. A "knight" on crusade is going to bring different things than one on the tournament circuit.

There's a reason we stitch through the drawcord-- so you can't grab one end and pull the whole thing out, or worse yet, have that happen in the washer. Don't take the tag out unless you absolutely have to. Once the fabric's been washed the smooth finish is gone and it's a complete pain in the butt t...
