I am actually quite glad to hear this . I am curious, would you say this holds true among the upper tier so to speak of fighters, or pretty much acros the board? Tim It is pretty much a given that the upper tier guys are on the same level. I think several people on this board have said the upper le...

I have to say it; the standard is fairly close across all Kingdoms. I have fought in West, An Tir, Atlantia, Meridies, Drachenwald, and others. I have also fought guys from all over. A good shot is a good shot. Yes, Meridies calls a little lighter than most so you get a few victories on shots that s...

Let me ask? What does Sir Shaltar say or have you talked to him. As a local Knight who has traveled to several interkingdom events he should be one to know the level. I do believe he is one of those "Hit like a truck" boys Vitus is talking about. I know how hard him and some of his boys can hit and ...

Marvin and Vitus cover everything very well. Since I don't live in Meridies anymore I really don't have a say in this. You should take this up with a lot of your local guys. This is a Meridies issue and really should be settled there. No matter how wise or well anything anyone here states something ...

War crown was not nullified and the rules were followed carefully. The only people who could play in the Sunday fighting had to also fight in the Saturday tourney. As for as the tourney went there were a few problems but over all most felt it was fun. Understand there were well over 100 people in th...

That seems to me very true. But the kicker here seems to be that significant portions of the Chivalry now define armored combat as the only type of combat. Where much (most?) of the rattan community seems to be concentrating on refining the existing rules, other folks are pushing in other ways. The...

Actually, fencing's been around since the beginning: m (They mention fencing swords as being apart of the first tourney) combat activities is the Chivalry. Guys, the copy of the rules everyone saw that banned siloflex (and did some other things) was a PROPOSAL. It was sent out to get FEEDBACK from people. And the SEM has apparently LISTENED to this FEEDBACK and acted as a steward of our hobby (leaving his personal opinions out of it). I.E. The system ...

I honestly hope that doesn't succede I prefer as little rules entanglements as possible. It would pretty much also make a rotating weapons list a real PIA to run. But Magnus that would mean no more double elim, wounds retained, rotating weapon lists . Which to me is a good thing Vebrand Who fought ...

For the most part I agree with everyone. It is not the weapon it's self that dangerous but who and how it is used. However (knew it was coming, eh) I do believe there are a few weapons that are dangerous. One of the things I have read several times on the Kong mace thread is that people add extra la...

When is a weapon dangerous?
After reading through the thread on the Kong mace heads it got me thinking (I know scary thought). When is a weapon considered dangerous? To what level do allow weapons heads or constructions? What I mean by that is I can pick up most any weapon look at the head and mass and know either right away o...

Finally, I would like to point out that anybody, regardless of what they wear or thier ideas, who enters the list deserves respect. This is why fighting in the SCA is a "...

For SCA fighting. Duke Trelon of the Woods would have to be my first choice. I have seen his tactics and they are great when he decides to lead. 2) The kingdom newsletter, in a missive about the banning of a weapon from the field, while mentioning an incident of INJURY on the field, is NOT the time to be making jokes, as you suggest.
