Re: Armour Archive Helm 7 day auction
As thin as it is I thought it would make a nice display or boffer helm. It needs a leather suspension if one is to wear it. Not hard to make it you have some leather straps and a drill or punch. Hi Sasuke,
Do you still pound metal?
Your sabatons are what inspired me to try a pair.
I have missed your postings.

If I recall from an earlier thread Prince… you wanted the movie gig. Your stuff is definitely first class and derives a place in video history. Now, add some metal armour pieces to the leather art and I think it would be a fantastic. I am working on your detail chisel stake and hammer as we speak. H...

Re: My latest tool shipment.
That would be fine, I could use a full scale drawing with 3 views and dimensions, or a sample.
My welder used to tell my engineer... "I can't stick my head up your ass and read your mind"
The engineer would wave his hands and expect every one to understand.
I fired him.

Re: My latest tool shipment.
Prince proceeds you Crisspie; however you are comming up fast as a strong 2nd.
Some tools are rather difficult to make and require considerable time.
That, is why it takes me a while to complete an order.
Anyway, I will post you some progress pics when they are worthy.
At your service.

Re: Armour Archive Helm 7 day auction
Thanks -Gerhard The old finish was russet which is not bad in itself. Where I made my mistake was in spraying clear over the russet. The clear leaves a nice finish to begin with, but it is not durable or reparable. It got kicked around the shop, scratched and the wasps pooped on it. So I used my fla...

Very cool.
Amazing what a plasma torch, box tubing, plate steel, welder and a grinder will do.
I don't know how you manage to offer them at $90.00
Jolly well done and thanks for the pic.

1250 Italy.
Page 52 of the Arms and Armor of the Medieval Knight.
Thank you Edward for your bid.
This helm is for show or parade, not to be hit upon with swords, pikes and axes.
It has crapy welds and thin metal.
Ok… a foam boffer would be acceptable.

Re: newbie question: Strapping / Mounting Spaulders
I use the little brass eylets set into the steel at the pointing holes.
Tandy has some that fit the 3/16" roper/whitney punch size.
Get the little setting tools also.
That was a good explaination Red.
I like the two hole leather washer on the inside idea.
Now, how do you guys pad your spaulders?

Yes, he should be good for helms, spaulders, knees, elbows, vambraces and finger gaunts, plus some fluting. The raising hammer works best for me on fluting, it gives a sharper crest than the ball peen or flat hammer. The Y-stake will come in handy for sabatons, greaves and gaunt cuffs. http://www.yo...

You are certainly welcome Kerr.

These tools were specifically designed for the Milanese Gauntlets but I am sure they have other uses.
Let us know what you think after you pound metal on them.

It is an air hog though.
