Hey it will pass the 10 foot rule. We all have to start somewhere. You have done more than most of the posters here. Be proud and stand tall. I like the kettel helm best.

Need to work on your planishing a little more.

Welcome to the addiction.

Thanks for the pic. No ear flaps. The object of this helm was to be historical that's why it was posted here. I will try again, this time I will copy some work of others.

Thank you for your support.

Hal.

This has been a good learning helm.

Thanks for the advice. I will start over and chunk this one down in the creek with all my flops. I really did not want to make a lamp out of it anyway.

Thanks for the compliments. It hangs down to my bottom lip. Is that too long? I might be able to cut it off at the rivet hole and salvage it. With a leather suspension it will fit me. I do not think it will fit over a coif so I would like to add a maile drape on it. Now this is made with a lot of 14...

Man that iron giant helm would be easy to make. Yes? Those freon can helms would have nothing on that. Hi Aaron T. These guys seen your helm ...

Hey, History Guys.

Would this pass as a Saxon or Norman type of helm?

Egfroth, the bronze nose is backed with 14ga. mild steel.

Needs final finishing and some rivets. Then it may get a maile drape.

This is my first attempt at a jaw piece. I think its goofy looking. It has to be big to be a helmet face. 2" below the chin and all that you know. I wonder if I should have done it from one piece. Anyway it is getting very work hardened. Thi...

If you boil your leather with the helm the leather will curil and shrivel up. It will get hard and crack. No good.

I would like to bring my favorite "Batajenski" pattern for sharing. We can dish the panels in no time on my air hammer.

I want to see hot raising and how it is done.

Must use carbide inserts.

A right angle air drill with a 2" sandang attachment is cool. An air die grinder with a sanding drum is cool too. Sort of like a big powerfull drimell tool. Hooouh!
