On a more serious note. The foot wear and leggins. Would that be a turn shoe with a Viking type of leg wrap?

Questions about this Bayeux Tapestry *pic*
http://www.regia.org/images/Bayuxc13.jpg Forgive me but....those helms are dorky looking. Did the helme really look like that? If so, why are not that many seen on todays field? Most of the living history pics have more rounded spangens. IMO. When you use the greathelm vrs. sugarloaf debate, would ...

Thank you gentlemen: Your responses have pleased me. I am more belt savvy now thanks to you. Plan A: Order the buckle and tip from StudBuckle. Have it dropped shipped to Vikingleather for assembly. This plan should yield me a very nice belt for my needs. Hand crafted by the artisans of the Armour Ar...

Thanks! I cut it with my big ass 18" long shears from the snap on truck. I did it in long smooth cuts. No jagged edges. The client will install the buckle. Hopefully he will finish the edges. This is about all I can do. Thank you for your support. Hal. [img]http://www.cox-internet.com/halberds/done1...

I need to make a helm strap. I have a very nice piece of new leather about 3/32" .090 thick. I have one shot at this. I am not a very good leather worker my edges are jagged and uneaven. I want this to look very nice as it is for a client. Also any way to dress the edges? A long time agao I watched ...

Norman belt?
Where is a good place to find a leather belt with a period looking buckle that is long enough to tie in the front. Like Ld. David de Clermont has in his new kit?
Thanks,
Hal (edited from Saverio to Ld. David de Clermont) oops.

WMA I got the expanding wheel from Eastwood just like you told me. Only a year later. Man did it work good on my sword and dagger. The thumb numb thing is an armouring hazard. I now wear a left wrist support. I do not think I can do very many helms this year. Hal. PS: The web cam thing is the cooles...

Hi, Mr. Madd: When it is cold I mess up stuff too. You may try heating up your bosses with a small propane torch. Also works as a hand warmer. To beat the cold fatigue I like to stand on some flattened card board boxes. A high intensity lamp near by gives off some warmth. My favorite heater is the d...

This is the last one left in the series 1 of 5. You would need clamps, hammers and a drill as well as dividers and a center punch. This Kit is designed to teach you finishing final shaping, riveting and assembly of a spangen helm. Not for the weak hearted. 14 ga. mild steel. Rivets included. [img]ht...

Flap wheels? Is that what you use mrks? My sore thumb comes from the off hand. The constant pounding it takes holding the metal in the dish. I have tried vice grips and tongs. Padded gloves and prayer. My hand hurts also. I just quit when I hurt. Go inside where it is warm and post on the forum. Hav...
