Also some acrylic paint "art type" White with a touch of blue gives a nice metal color. Do not make it even. More blue a few places gives it a outdoor look.
You can paint over masking tape too.
Have fun.

Mr. Egfroth: If it is to have no welding and single rivets. Do the 4 panels overlap inside. This will give it a different twist. I have never made one like that before. I always welded the panels in and the rivets were fake. Like this one. ...

Congratulations. I guess it is no great honor wining a contest such as this. Sort of like winning the rat bike contest. Every one pours beer and pisses all over it.

But then again every one has his 15 minutes of fame.

Best of luck,

Try and try again. I weld with oxy/acetylene. Inside and out. If their is small pockets and little craters after the first sanding I weld them up again and regrind. It takes several steps to get a clean sanded seamless finish. Now your work has only begun. Lots of finish and sculpt sanding. Not to m...

Holey Cow! I just saw your Salett helm. Thanks to the link to the nice web site. I am in awe. My attempt at such a helm ended in disaster. I wish I saw your helm before I started. That makes me want to try again now.

Happy Hammering

Thank you Jeffrey Hedgecock
Archive Member.

I rendered it to a line dwg. So the engravers can pantograph it. The quotes are not back yet. I went with the 1/2" Dia.

And thanks to my wife for bugging me to do it.

But then again I never saw a real helm.
