I sort of like the scallop on the visor pivot, so I left it on.

What I do not understand is why the back tail has to stick out so far.

Hal

Ps: the poster board does not dish like steel so it should look very much better.

That's some nice file work on the face guard. Eyes and breath holes. Funny how it did not close in the back and a triangle of steel was riveted in as a bandaid.

God I love armouring!

Hal.

Thanks for the pics.

Thanks Chef de Chambre. I Think it is time for me to advance beyond spangens. This type of helm has nice style to me. It will be hammered and gas welded in 14ga. mild steel. I will add a longer back tail and get rid of the scallop on the visor. It sure would be nice to try and make that chin armor t...

Gothic Helm?

Does this layout look anything historical?

It is poster board taped on a 14ga. welded helm top. A little black spray paint to show the outline.
It will be a while before the electrician wires my barn. So I was playing around.

I am intrested in the slight bluge at the panels interfacing the right side headband. Do you think that is intentional or old earth pressure?

It is rather pointed. Yes?

Thanks for the link. I got a new stick of bees wax on hand. I have made a couple of powder horns before. I can try out my new armour techniques and make some metal bands.
Add a leather strap and it might pass for Viking stuff I don't know.

Cool pic of your kit. Do you have a Crusaders Helm?

Thanks for the pics. It truly is a fine piece of work. I have a pair of long horns I was going to make a Viking helm with. But a drinking horn is a better idea. Does the horn make your beer taste funny? I know it smells bad when cutting on them.

I never made a chest plate before but you might try bending it around a tree or something. I think most brest plates are hammered on until they look like one.

Bexter12 has a web page on how she did it.

Best of luck.

Good morning #12. It is an open auction. I would be honored to be outbid by the lovely and talented Bexter. Besides you will be needing some reading material during your maternal leave.

Unless you own a couple of oil wells in Texas you don,t have a chance. :-) Just kidding.

Funny you thought of that. Look in the books at the old armour of a long time ago. They look like a silly rolled up cone. Beat in to a helm shape with a brow band they do. Riveted on no less. It is like you are inventing it all over again. Go for it! Make anything you want. Have some fun with the me...
