That is a good idea Scott. I really do not wish to build this my self. The more I look at it, it becomes a coin stamp. A raised circle on the perimeter would be nice. It would work good in copper. Yes?

Crap I am getting off the main stream. This is to be a metal stamp so I can mark my helms.

Cool kit. That helm in the pic would be nice.

Have fun at the faire. (Or how ever the locals spell it.)

Be attentive but not a nuisance. Make some new friends.

Hal

Ps: When you take a pic of your kit, go outside or the woods. Make the background look like back then.

Seeking craftsman (engraver)

Or should I ask for craftsperson? I know that their are hundreds of hand stamp manufactures out their. With all their fancy CNC, laser and etching tools. I have used them in the past for custom industrial purposes. I am currently designing my armour stamp in solid works, a CAD/CAM program. It is not...

Best of luck young blood rose. Maille is a noble craft. I have bought and traded all my maille from this forum. I only made a helm skirt with rings. That was enough to send me back to plate. You should study the links and patterns and make the beginners helm. The "spangen".

It was my first. Lots of cool cheek pieces and neck guards to go with it. Leather hinges too.

I can not help you with the face guard for I am not SCA.

deviating from traditional style question.

Hello: My question is about changing the design of the eye area of a great helm. As they now are made the eyes are cut out of the face plate between the nasal in two big flat notches. I was wondering if it would not be better to just cut two eye slots between the nasal. Leave the eyebrow metal in pl...

This is a good question. Sir or Mr. or just plain ol' Egfroth has some numbers one could apply to safe mayhem. "The edge thickness". I have been working on a sword shaped object for some time now. A little of both. The business end will be sharp. Tapering up the blade it will become more rebated. Their is a sweet spot in the harmonic balance. A node of strike zone. This is where the transition will occur. I had no idea making a sword shaped object would be this hard! I can still lean all my u...
