Re: Zweihammer armoury gauntlets from PBForge
Thanks for the update. Your wood dishing divot reminds me of my tin/lead alloy rivet anvil or the bottom of my tin/lead dishing form. The soft tool was a blessing to form my special needs. I used small ball peen hammers and chisels to shape details. Too bad the price of the tin/lead alloy has gone t...

Long enough to fit in the flat rate box. The longest I could make one is 13" across the top with a 9" shank. That would fit in the medium USPS flat rate shipping box. Yes, it's a fine balance between the supply compressor, valve size, piston size and tubing size. This one has a 1.5" piston with a 6" stroke. The 3 speed controller was custom made by my friend Chupa, an electrical engineer. It's a 3 speed multi flip flop vibrator. It delivers the 12 Volt pulses to ...

Re: what is the right way to hold your hammer?
Do not wear a glove on your hammer hand.
I go for the lighter hammers and the work position is vital.
I agree with the snap and not the mad pounding of anger.
Hold your work piece with tongs or vice grips.
Don't over do it, take breaks And do something else.
Work hot to avoid fatigue.

Yes a power shear cuts the bands very fast, precise and clean on 4 foot sheet of steel.
Sometimes a 12 pack of cold beer at the back door, just before closing time works wonders.

The Dewalt shown is not a nibbler, it's an electric shear with a small reciprocating cutting blade. It will turn tight corners and shear 14ga. mild steel very well. The nibbler that leaves half moon crescent shards all over the floor is useful also for tight turns. My favorite cutting tool is Mistre...

Oh... I thought you were doming and curving.
For an angled look you might need a piece of steel shaped like the angle you want.
Perhaps a curved ground chisel sticking up in the vice.
Yes pics... or it did not happen.

To help get the wrinkles out, turn it upside down on your bouge plate and hammer with the oval raising hammer. I also like hammering both pieces together over the stake, imagine if they were hot. Most first time welders use an oxygen/acetylene gas welder with filler rod. I know I did, my first helm halves were welded with my Victor metal art gas torch. A rosebud attachment lets you get metal red hot in a jiffy. All things said... a gas welder is not a bad idea. Now, I use the Miller MIG wire...

I did not do the bending lug, as the client was ready to get his tools. This is the finished tool set.
