Re: Armouring tools in time for Christmas.
Be careful using the toe tool. It will have a tendency to wrinkle on each side of the toe tip. To overcome this... one must be patient and hammer many times on the peaks of the wrinkles. Then the metal collapses upon itself and forms a very nice solid toe tip. A blend of your polished hammer strokes...

Oh poo... That sucks. I broke one last night. My friend was making a machete out of an industrial reciprocating saw blade. Nice blade about 2" wide and 34" long. I plasma cut the handle out to save time. Well he had it mostly ground down but it had a slight bow in it. I said here hold my beer I'll s...

Hi Knight Sir James,
The one shown in the pic with tools is available, as the client hasn't paid for that order.
I also have the Y stake available which is useful for making sabaton pieces as shown here:

Galileo, I sent out your back slat retaining strap today 2nd day air.
It should be there by the time you get the top assembled.
If any one else is missing any parts let me know as I seem to have an extra brow band.

Re: New Imported Brass Buckles at Viking Leathercrafts
The wear of the shoe is what I have seen while making sabatons to fit used turn shoes. The combat fighters have a particular wear pattern to their shoes. It is easy to see which foot is the leading foot. I try to accommodate the sabatons to fit those wear patterns. Your buckles are very nice. Jolly ...

Re: Rivets on a slat back helm question.
I am not sure, if you look in my old rivet pack, I tried to have plenty of leftovers. I hammer on my back slat assembly with a 3 pound weighted rawhide ma...

Re: Looking at Buying a Buffer, Baldor vs. Grizzly, RPMS, HP
I use an old craftsman 3600 RPM long shaft machine 1 Hp. That sucker is still running strong after 15 years. It is a little fast for the expanding wheel so I use flap wheel sanders most of the time. 6" diameter is my favorite. I use the sisal 6" buffs with stick rouge. Remember grinders feed on huma...

Thanks Clang, The round bottom dies sound interesting for the home press. I sort of copied what the break looked like where I used to work. It also had a very acute top blade. Biggest trick on the panels is to not dish the bottom where it interfaces with the top half of the brow band. Nothing worse than having to undo your hard earned hammer work. Most symmetrical dishes will dish the panel even all over, the doughnut will do that also if you let it. This simple tool will...
