I don't see an "attack on authenticity" - I see a circumstance where some people haven't learned to calibrate to the kingdom standard with the equipment they are using. No different than the guy who wears armor that requires him to calibrate by sound as much as sting. I can't recall anyone...

[quote="blackbow"]Wristbands similar to the ones they use in hospitals then. Waterproof, small enough that you won't care if you have one on your wrist, and definitely non-transferrable.

You know, I worked at a place years ago that had these stickers that were reasonably easy to remove, BUT nearly impossible to remove in one piece... They would be about perfect. Low residue, stuck well when applied properly, and if you tried ot remove it, it would come apart in pieces, making it non...

First, just Dilan.... Haven't won a crown. Yeah, The "Worked for My Grandpa, good enough for me" syndrome is there. Some Kingdoms (like the Midrealm) have a LOT of household. Baronial, etc units - and even though we'll all wear a Midrealm tabard at Gulf Wars, I can see the difficulty of ge...

Or footwear?

You know, I politely ask Pennsic marshals to mark the tape on my swords instead of the grip, and never had a problem.

And you can't fail a helm for ugly. or having old stickers, if it is safe.

It might extend the life of a sword a little bit, but I've not seen that it is enough compared the the time and cost of making it. Like a silo-flex sword, you also have more difficulty telling when the sword is starting to pulp out.

Besides, everyone knows that we ALL came into the SCA 100% authentic and accurate, with nothing else to learn.... Yeah, his idea is a bit off. Yeah his reasoning is a bit.. romantic (FOR SHAME!!!). None of us ever did that in our early days. A lot of the responses he got were reprehensible - at best.

Project your voice so people can hear you. Don't rush - Give the fighter the chance to salute/honor their opponent, the Crown, and their inspiration - doesn't have to be a ton of time, but don't talk like an auctioneer either. Perform - So many herald act like they really don't want to be out there....

<Joke> Are you in the SCA? They don't print the FIELD battle rules in 20 words or less!

Let's see -

Attacker - unlimited res.
Defender - res until 2 town banners fall.
Stop when castle banner falls.
CA, Seige in play.

Switch sides. Best time wins.
