Boy, this just should be tagged Archive Bitch Session #2, after Combat Archery and before non-standard personas.... I'll occasionally fight 2 weapon. It's different, makes me move and think in ways that the I don't using weapon and shield. It can be a lot of fun. Now I don't use the realy long sword...

Heh. This just opened up some new possibilities for me.... Once I get past 20 years of hard-wiring! Thanks! Yep allowed to do it now. I've even gone so far as controlling the sword arm by shoving my shield edge under their elbow cop and pushing it around.

Umm- this is deliberate shield to body contact, and not allowed in the rules of the list....

In THAT period, sure.

Some periods and cultures used shorter swords.

Of course, if we are speaking strictly in the contex of later period, then that of course limits the possibilities too.

I believe that two weapon use falls under the "rare" rather than never. I also think it seems to be more common in the early period, and amoung cultures where armor was usually lighter and warfare was more "hit and run". It would take a pretty skilled, ballsy, or crazy warrior to...

That was one event, one MIC.

What about the next event?

It might not be easy, or even likely in some areas (I could see them not allowing this one bout at a Crown, for example), but I find it hard to beleive EVERY MIC at EVERY event is going to recat that way.

I don't even think a rule change is even needed - nothing in the rules prevents counted blows. What I think would go much FARTHER is to introducethe possibility of counted blows at a grass roots level. Be the MIC at your next event. If it is a tourney, let the fighters know that they can do counted ...

Something to watch using slio-flex weapons - You can't tell how the rattan breaks down inside the silo-flex as you can with a regular rattan weapon. The rattan will compress inside the siloflex, as well as crack. You have to watch how it holds a bend after use. And the more it breaks down, the less ...

It is SORT of what the Battle of 30 is, right?

An SCA take on a real event.

You COULD do a senario based on the topography, situations, weapons available, armor, etc... I just doubt a LARGE scale battle could be done well - even at an event like Pennsic.

At it's most basic level, when you want someone to consider your ideas, concepts of product, or think in a manner that is in line with your thinking, that IS marketing. We all do it, everyday.
