You did? Cool!

An SCA interpretation of a period tourney. Designed to work within our rules.

Pretty cool.

Evil?

OK.......

SCA Combat Archers might be misguided, not as "battle hard' as others maybe even a little lazy in some cases, but evil?

Unless you are talking about me... :D

Depends who you are saying it to. Personally, when a new fighter tells or the multi-reign Duke tells me they had fun fighting me, I value the compliment equally. Maybe for different reasons, but I value one no less than the the other. If you went to a new fighter who just tried to make their first c...

Yep, big, slow to change, diverse. But change DOES occur. Just not as fast or in the single direction some people want. There are very cool kits springing up EVERY year at Pennsic, from a wide variety of periods. Fewer and fewer "gag kits" (like the tie-dye armor) show up. "Real"...

Personal dislike of what? I've done counted blows - it is fun! I've done a bout with small shields, and the SCA thrust and throw javilens, in when eveyone had to wear gauntlets (obviously). Didn't include EVERY fighter, so it was a small turnout. Just becuase 25 or so guys posting on an internet boa...

At one point, SCA folks DID use guige straps - but then someone came up with a bright idea that since shields in the SCA are indestructable, they rigged a shield strapped so they could use a spear - with a nose to knees, wider than their shoulders shield. With no face thrust at the time, they became...

Way to encourage there Rhys! Yeah, CA needs "fixed". Doubt it will ever be eliminated from the SCA, but most fighters (even those who don't mind it's presence) feel it is over-powered. I imagine that fixing it is going to be a looong painful process, given the people at both extremes of th...

Small square/rectangular shields are seen on art and in some literature / stories among the Picts and some Celtic tribes in Britian.

Oddly enough, (again IIRC), in IRELAND at the time, you didn't find them - the shield were larger and oval.

Again, I'm at work, so I'm going off of memory.

At least in the Midrealm, arrows can't just "touch". I seen, and called arrow strikes light. I've seen and done so at Pennsic - usually with no problem. But like spear fighters, sword fighters and poelarms, there is always someone who is going to complain. Shot has to hit like a single han...

Just that our entire GAME is a suspension of belief. We mix warriors from eras not even remotely close. Midrealm TOC tends to be pretty big.

A few years ago, the one held in Tirnewydd (Columbus OH) had 45 members of the Chivalry and 187 unbelted fighters on the rolls.
