Hey Wulfe -

IIRC, those are not legal in the Midrealm unless you pad the striking points....

Just a head up - you might email Brannos to be certain.

Marshalls give up their time, and a opportunity to fight, so the rest of us can.

Good ones try to help the rest get better.

And they put up with bullshit they have little or no control over.

Animal -

Remember, Midrealm will require that polearm to be padded (assuming you are using it at Midrealm events). I don't know if padding UNDER the BMH head will count or not... I've dropped a note ot the EM, will let you know if I hear anything.

You have to be carefull of materials that could flake or shred and end end in faceplates. Some of the real shiney duct tape is metal, and flakes real easy. Same for tool dip (had a tool dipped mace flake, and little bits of tool dip end up in my grill). I would be happy if most people just MAINTAINE...

I for one applaud ANY attempt to do something other than the same "Field/woods/bridge/champions/castle/etc" every year. The number of buildings and layout made for some potential cool combat situations. Same for the woods - loved the changes, hope they keep them! Yeah, tape wasn't the best way to go...

Eh, it was Pennsic. Calibration was pretty much even down the line, though by the end of the week, face thrusts we getting harder and harder - again, pretty typical for Pennsic. Only had two or three really bad hits - I stepped an unexpected direction into a face thrust in the 2nd field battle, the ...

Early Period hats/hoods? Gotta keep the sun off!

OK, since I lack the protection from the sun that nature PUT on most people's head (hair), and I don't want to roast at Pennsic, I'm looking for some options for a historiclly acceptable alternative in the 90 degree and sunny days to come... I do 5/6thc Ireland. Anyone have ideas? Other than growing...

At a bar-fight a group of us became "The Band"

We had -

A Guitar (The Squirecaster)
A Trombone with a working slide (great surprise to the first victim)
A Bagpipe - that made noise (favorite target of EVERYONE else)
Throwing maracas.
A Saxaphone
A complete drum set.
and a Stand-up Bass.

UPDATE: BIG Tent/fly for sale -

I posted this a few weeks ago, finally got updated info... Got a small army - heck a big army - or a Kingdom to shade? FOR SALE: 40'x40' Tent - 18 - 20' center height. That is 1600 sq. feet of shade! This is NOT an army surplus (as I originally thought). It is a tent commonly rented for outdoor even...

The Detroit Practice is currently the best practice in the Midrealm, hands down.

In its day, the Columbus OH practice had similar success - 9 Knights in a 12 year span - common denominator was Duke comar, who was hte primary trainer.

I might have a line on a pavillion/shade for sale. It is (according ot the info I have) a surplus GP medium, with wood poles, ropes, long re-bar stakes. It is BIG folks. Quite honestly, if you are basing your highest award structure in mythology.... in some non-real victorian ideal of what a knight SHOULD have been, rather than what it _was_, then what is the point in demanding "reality" in any other facet of the venue? To me it makes zero sense to knight someone who does not wish to take on a persona that could have been knighted in period. Why would an early period persona wish to be a knight? So...what's wrong with targeting the goret then? Well, by that same logic, the groin is legal, your cup is there to protect you, so why don't we target the groin? Answer: It isn't NECESSARY. Shots to the throat and groin don't take much to cuase a rather nasty injury, even with good protection. Per...
