Re: What do you think about ribbed cops?
When I say the title, I thought you meant a coat of plates with ribs, which I think would look awesome as well. I like these though. Does the fluting add much strength, or is it simply for decoration?

Re: The N00blet is Now Open!
That sounds very reasonable. I'll start with a cotton one and if I like how it works (never tried one before, just want my kit to be more period), I'll likely order a linen one. What all measurements would you need, do you accept paypal?

That was in fact the one I had in mind. Did you have any idea of price ranges for cotton or linen? For rough estimates, I'm a large in the SCA, generally a XL outside of it. 47" chest.

For the curious, this is the actual gambeson that I received.
Hope your order goes well. I was nervous about ordering from overseas, but they held my hand through the whole process. Hope your order goes well.

I also know several female fighters who use lamellar, since it's easier to adjust for different body shapes.

Re: Female fighter body armor question
I'm fairly certain (I've never taken off her surcoat to check, didn't want a broken arm) that one of my lady fighter friends wears a kidney belt and pure anger as armor. But a simple coat of plates wouldn't be too hard, using either the barrel plastic or some foraged aluminum or steel plate and a he...

I might be Rayner. I am currently trying to sell this stuff off so I can get the funds to finally finish my Agincourt kit. Oooh, that could get expensive. Period correct arrows are really expensive and you'll need 8 or 9 of them wedged in you to look authentic. (Assuming you're French) And yes, I k...

Re: WTS - Maciejowski Helmet
As a suggestion, you really should verify, with a gauge or equivalent measuring device, the thickness of the helm. 16 gauge is technically useable for SCA fighting, but I don't personally know anyone who uses or would use a 16 gauge mild helm. If it's 14 gauge, you may have an easier time selling it.

Not nearly enough experience for me to say for certain, though for small lam plates, I'd bet they'd be a little better (depends on the crispiness and the thickness of the leather)

Do you only do finger gaunts, or would you do mittens as well? I'd be interested in FH 301 mittens (no particular style in mind) for BotN/ACL combat.

I liked the poem. I was hoping you'd make it funny though. I think if I told this one to the spear woman I had in mind, she'd break my arms....I just don't know if she'd drag me to her tent first or not. Terrifying either way......
Liked it a lot though.

Hmmm. Make you a deal Uilliam. Write a short poem about a spearwoman in the SCA (Iambic Pentameter would be awesome, but totally not required) and I'll totally let you have the breastplate straps. Thoughts?

Very similar to this, but without the bevor or the rising part in the back. Works well enough, make me laugh when I learned where it came from. Don't know why someone removed the bevor, wish I had it.
