Re: Questions from a new guy.

Seriously, get some sort of gorget. Mail drapes help, but they don't stop stabs by themselves. Doesn't have to be bad, talbot had a good patter for a bridandine one, protects well and should fit pretty nicely.

Re: Questions from a new guy.

"Harpooning" apparently (cupping the end of the spear in your hand), according to my friend, I wasn't present for it, and possibly blown foam. Bent his gorget (10 gauge street sign Aluminum) badly enough it'll need a hammer and a dishing form to get back in the right shape. Fun times.

Re: Questions from a new guy.

I would personally strongly caution against not having a gorget. 2" spears hit hard; a friend of mine had his gorget bent badly this past gulf wars by one. If he'd been without one (or using a hardened leather one even), it probably would have been tracheotomy time for him.

My shield on your body(gentle caress to foul your wrap)=ok In Ansteorra, you can place the edge of your shield on their body- place, not hit/push. If they withdraw their body, you can follow. In most places, I think, you can put your shield where they will hit it with their body. I'm from ansteorra...

Or crappy contacts on copper wiring. But being so consistent in failing, I'd say it sounds like either aluminum or seriously undergauged copper.

Congrats on not dying. That house is definitely a fire waiting to happen. What your describing seem like criminal levels of negligence on his part. Not a legal opinion, for the record. But definitely a good idea to move.

I don't think I'm a buckler savant (I'm definitely an idiot with some things though). It just feels right for me. One of my happiest moments so far was when a knight took a fast, decapitating swing at me.....and it just missed. No block, just wasn't there. Seeing him off balance made me super happy....

That would start hurting quickly I think, but its fine, the baskets to the forearm, I mean. I don't even really have a problem with people using forearms to shed blows, or to get inside the arc and stop them before it has the force to disable. If it sheds off or doesn't have the force, then why shou...

I've almost quit using heaters, or any strapped shield at all. Bucklers are where it's at, for me at least. 2 pounds is much more fun to carry than 12. And much easier to travel with.

Stonekeep, I know you don't do custom orders, but have you considered making spring steel mitten gauntlets for ACL/BotN fighters? Or even finger gauntlets? I see the one pair on your website, but I unfortunately have larger hands.

Re: Hjalmarheim Armoury Update (March 22) -SHUT DOWN!

As someone with a little knowledge of residential wiring, you're probably running just shy of the trip limit on your breakers. 18 or 19 amps on a 20 amp breaker. Overhearts the wires, especially older insulation, melts. It's a problem with electrical motors, but they have an additional layer of prot...
