Looking for a coat of plates kit
Have a local fighter who's looking for a coat of plates kit. She's looked at mad matt and polar bear and may get one of those, but I figured I'd ask on here as well. I'll have to ask her and make sure on measurements, but she says she has a 46" chest, so that's a good place to start. Anyone have an ...

Re: I love 301 - I hate 301
Comes in two inch wide strips, going to cut it with a B2, then grind off the sharp bits with a bench grinder (because that's what we have in the local shop) then maybe curve it slightly and attach it to leather for a leg harness. One of our local newbies is going to get lucky, materials wise.

I just ordered a roll to make splints with of full hard in about 21 gauge. Hopefully I'll be able to get through it without destroying too many bits.

I'd be curious too, I tried to contact him several times for choppa forms, polearm heads and sword hardware. Ended up going with Hessian for sword gear, but I'd still love the other stuff.

I second Forge of Svan. I have several pieces from them, they're excellent quality. The communication is great when buying from them and the temper on the spring steels is very good on the pieces I own.

Can you tell me more about the construction of the bascinet? How is it made with two sheets of 16 gauge? I'm confused on that point.

Re: Is this classified as brigandine armour?
I think your confusing brigandine (15th century mostly) with a coat of plates (late 13th and most of the 14th century) They found coats of plates at wisby. They're usually larger plates than Brigandines. If you search for coat of plates on here, you can find numerous styles, replicas and designs for...

Called a corrazina usually. That one is a historically incorrect assembly, proper ones look more like this http://www.forgeofsvan.com/en/Body-defenses/Corazzina-type-2-on-fabric/Detailed-product-flyer.html Notice the difference in faulds? I have one from this same manufacturer, very good armor in my...

I really enjoyed "The Last Duel" by Eric Jaeger. http://www.amazon.com/The-Last-Duel-Scandal-Medieval/dp/0767914171/ref=tmm_pap_title_0?ie=UTF8&qid=1389110888&sr=1-1 It's an account of the last judicial duel in France, held in 1386. Interesting to see the social background of the time and gives a go...

I really tend to distrust things I see on ebay. So I'm like 99% certain this is a victorian knockoff at best. I figured I'd ask here, since I'm not an expert by any stretch.

Unroll them until they're 3" in diameter, then put them on. That leaves 1" of foam on each side of them, more than enough progressive give and add enough weight.

Hollow it out, put something for weight in it? Rolls of electrical tape would work, as long as it has enough give still

Re: WTS: Bascinet with peak
I wouldn't worry about using it, personally. Riveted or welded mail would be easily strong enough. The problem is that I'd catch hell from marshals constantly, since it's not a style they're used to seeing, even if it's a safe design.

I have one, specifically this one http://www.forgeofsvan.com/en/Gambesons/Gambeson-green/Detailed-product-flyer.html The fabric itself is very sturdy. I've been using it semi regularly (use it whenever I fight, just can't get out too fight super often) both under armor and as standalone protection. ...

I still dislike the rules about post production thickness but at least I get to use this one for a while.

Bought it new.
And apparently they're making a special category for hardened helms, they apparently making rules for them now. As to why they didn't have rules already made up for all materials, especially for something as common as spring steel,I haven't clue

Minimum thicknesses post production 13 g = 2.4 mm Stainless / Chro-moly steel top and sides. Or 12 g 2.7 mm ...
