Re: Helms for sale
Last I'd heard, 12g mild was acceptable, it just tended to get shredded, thus it would ok. At 200 bucks, it would be good for a starter helm for ACL I think. The shape does leave something to be desired though (I've been looking at Manuscript Miniatures again)

Yeah, if I were running dedicated spear I'd use them. And for Cut and Thrust too. But for regular heavy, I'd want something a little heavier. I wouldn't be concerned about my wrists though, they look fine there.

Exactly. Normans didn't use madu's. I love out of Europe personas, wish we saw more of them instead of the crappy kits I see a lot.

Re: Madu blow up?
I've seen some Madu's that were crazy long for SCA combat. I hated seeing them because they were so inauthentic. I won't mourn their passing. Having said that, I wanted the victory over madu's to be a cultural victory. I wanted people to stop using them because they are inauthentic for most SCA pers...

I liked the change to stabbing tips on rattan weapons less than 7.5 ft in length. Makes a lot of sense. It's also going to make a 7.5 glaive the devil for stabbing.

Seems to be. Hard to tell in places, as my company blocks some of the image hosting sites, so they don't always come through.

Same here, but with the hammer heads. I've nearly ordered several times, but the shipping was really expensive last I checked.
Edit: Yeah, I just checked. SCA hammer head? $33 dollars. Sweet
Shipping to Texas? $22.50. Yeah, that's a no go.

Last I'd seen, 1 inch square was the maximum allowed opening for ACL helms. I'll mention this to a couple of guys looking at ACL in Texas. Do you have a picture of the profile of the helm?

Hey, Got a question for you. How much would you want for the same helm, but all 12g, with bars across the eyes to make it ACL legal? Might make a good ACL starter helm. Just a thought.

That's awesome. Do you have a specific area and time period you're focusing on? And do you have plans for articulated joints in the near future? I'm probably going to need a pair of articulated knees for a splinted kit I'm building.

I just bought a helmet from Andrew, I can't recommend his work (or his apprentice's) highly enough. The helm was well shaped, very solid and I really liked the way the liner was made.

What alloy spring steels are y'all going to use? And could you have links for documentation for your ACL pieces? That would be awesome (even something like an effigies and brasses link helps a ton for research)

Fair enough, well hidden plastic can stay. But if we close this one, we have to open up a new one; these are the rules, it is known.

What material are you using for plates? Hell, if they're counting zoombang shirts, I'd certainly count a steel jack of plates as solid. Were you going to wear any sort of cloth padding underneath?

Re: basket hilt....barrel plastic?
I for one have a suggestion. We form a cohort of landsknechts wielding zweihanders who are dedicated to breaking every piece of plastic armor they can find. It will be a messy process, but I think in the end it will be worth it. I suggest that in aid of this goal, we start taking up a collection to ...

Re: Two bascinets for sale (12ga)
I think I heard about your helm killing ways. This is mostly to try out ACL, get a feel for it and decide if it's the game for me. Since the mail, the liners and possibly the face plate will be salvageable when this gets dented in, i'm not overly concerned.

I'm aware they're moving away from it, but I was under the impression that 12 gauge was still acceptable. If not, then I've bought an excellently priced SCA helm.

Yeah, that sounds perfectly fine. It's still lower than a munitions bascinet, covers a huge area of time and personas (with minor modifications), and looks really good. Besides, better to have your price go up and your volume drop a bit (which it may not), in my opinion, since you're doing the hamm...

Re: Gauge for Botn/Sca Gauntlets
Ah, ok. You'd put BotN in the title, instead of ACL, which threw me off. It's a common thing, but it's a bit like saying I'm going to go play World Series (as opposed to baseball). But yeah, I'd still probably go 16 gauge. But I need dexterity in my fingers for work so I can't have them get hurt.
