Re: Gauge for Botn/Sca Gauntlets
I mean, if you were going to, I'd say 16 gauge. But there's a reason they almost to a man use Grettir's gauntlets or so I've heard.

Re: Starter bucket generation two
Yeah, that sounds perfectly fine. It's still lower than a munitions bascinet, covers a huge area of time and personas (with minor modifications), and looks really good. Besides, better to have your price go up and your volume drop a bit (which it may not), in my opinion, since you're doing the hamme...

Do you know what time period you like? 160 puts you at either a spangentop or a fixed bargrill bascinet for the most part.

Re: Gambeson Armor with Plates
I am trying wingless elbow guards under the sleeves - but they slide around on me. Maybe I should point them to the inside. One solution I have seen is to have leather pieces sewn onto an elbow pad, spaced to let the cop slide underneath them but tight enough to hold the cop in place, then have a b...

Armored Combat League. Essentially american HMB. Stricter rules on armor standards, per my understanding. Other things may also be different as well, I'm just ignorant if that's the case.

Re: FS - Anshelm Arms Helms and WCA Aluminum Arms
Ah, ok. Thank you. If it had been 12g stainless, it might have been worth modifying to become an ACL helm, as it would only need bars put across the eye slots. But I'd hate to have such a pretty helm get busted up so quickly (from all accounts, ACL eats mild steel, even 12g)

Or for that matter, 4130 is quit cheap and welds easily with a good stick welder and the right rods (or TIG, I think) and then just let the buyers worry about heat treating. Of course they wouldn't need replacing as often.

Re: Hjalmarhiem Armoury -back from the dead!
Any chance of you getting 12g stainless (or mild I suppose)? I ordered an ACL helmet in 12 mild and when it eventually gets destroyed, I'd thought about pulling the visor off it and moving it to a new helm. Just a thought.

Uh ... ive heard stories about the 70s and 80s with all the recreational drug use ... in the SCA. I love that people assume it stopped then. That's cute. I think I'd prefer to fight someone who is slightly drunk, than someone who is extremely hung over. I think if we start "screening for pharmaceut...

I'm more concerned with people who drink alcohol before fighting or are on 'recreational' drugs. There has been plenty of stupid shit out on the field. Anyone that is drunk, or stoned(any format) on the field should lose their fighter card. How intoxicated are we talking? A few drinks before a figh...

Stimulants in Fighting Competition
Saw a post on the BOTN facebook page about stimulants and PEDs, set me to thinking. Have any of y'all ever come across people who did this for fighting? I know it's pretty well disapproved of (if not outright banned, if that post I read was correct), but I'm mostly just curious. I know personally, I...
