Re: Two bascinets for sale (12ga)

I'm worried about trying to use this in ACL (america's HMB style fighting) because a lot of the people I have talked said that they had to pad their helmets more than normal to avoid getting a concussion. If my head is right at the maximum size that could fit in this helm, I'm worried about having e...

Re: Small horde of Hessen sword hardware for individual sale

Hey foxknife, do you have any idea how much shipping is for one of your five foot swords? Does completed vs unfinished make a difference? I'd been planning to make my own, but shaping rattan in an apartment is annoying.

I ask because I've never made a two handed sword before and I'm fairly certain that you've made a few.

I like that "Premium 11" Two-ring Crossguard"

(This one http://foxknife.com/store/index.php/har ... guard.html)

What would be a good pommel matched to it?

Dude, I can't speak for others, but for me, it's just bad timing. If I hadnt bought a spring steel corrazina last month, I'd trying to to decide if this would work for my kit. It's definitely worth the price tag

Re: Wisby Coat of Plates: Pop-Rivets, Hammer Rivets, or Sew

@Caius Ah. I am starting to see. The thing is, I really, really am doing a ninth century Anglo-Saxon persona. Wisby's are just one of the easier armors to hide. I'll just be an anglo dude in a tunic with some funky-looking gloves and an odd, metal hat. Ya got a Tardis or a DeLorean laying around, o...

They looked hand made, so cut them out with a shear and then chase the design you like into them maybe.

@Caius I get the impression that I'm missing a reference to something, here... I for one would like to assure everyone that there is no such thing as the 14th century mafia. There is no group dedicated to furthering the one true century both inside of and apart from the SCA. We do not have a facebo...

Re: Wisby Coat of Plates: Pop-Rivets, Hammer Rivets, or Sew

@Konstantin There is no special worry concerning the collarbones, just me being cautious and believing in murphy's law. I may just ram some heavier padding into the shoulders and call it a day. As far as the helm, I dont have a specific one in mind, really. I have someone who may be giving me a goo...

Re: NEWBIE QUESTIONS ANSWERED - Add your Input !!!

18 gauge mild or stainless would work pretty well (stainless would be better, no rust) And depends on the gorget. Personally, I like steel, or at least some metal. I've seen alum under leather ones get bent badly by spear thrusts. I'm not sure I'd trust just leather to keep my trachea safe. If you g...

Two piece rivets? and you could possibly make lamellar scales out of them. Depends on the size, weight and pattern you want to use.

Re: NEWBIE QUESTIONS ANSWERED - Add your Input !!!

So I recently got gifted a ton of scrap leather, which I could use for some armor things. How the hell does one use rivets? What weight? What tanning process (chrome or veg)? How big of pieces? Rivets are pretty much the height of simplicity in concept. Goes through a hole in the leather, then had ...

And is the current 120 dollar price including the discount? Thought that was the price before the sale started (not that it's a...
