Don't misunderstand, I have no clue if he's making helms again or not. He may be. I truly am unaware. and good luck. If you need more advice, just ask. I (or someone more knowledgeable than me) can help.

Re: NEWBIE QUESTIONS ANSWERED - Add your Input !!!
Awesome. If you know you want to fight, you should be fine picking out a kit. I've seen a hidden rigid material under chainmail kit (or a tunic) done very well, so if you'd rather do that, you certainly can. Is Hjalmr making helms again? If so, he's excellent for helms. Also, woad, totally not perio...

Re: NEWBIE QUESTIONS ANSWERED - Add your Input !!!
hm, been checking out bokalo's stuff-some folks of mine recommended them as well. The tiny is more to do with, y'know..sizing. Asking for custom makes things a wee bit more expensive was my understanding. Less concerned with weight, I'll adjust. It just seemed to make less sense. But if I'm orderin...

Well lamellar puts you more eastern, so that opens up a whole lot of areas and time periods. Rus is popular, byzantine is pretty. Turkish is really pretty. Japanese is awesome when done right. Make sure to pick out a time period that calls to you. Rough from the hammer is pretty good, known for bein...

Re: NEWBIE QUESTIONS ANSWERED - Add your Input !!!
Well, as for metal vs plastic, if you have the cash to spare, a set of aluminum ones won't weigh a noticeable amount more than the plastic would. Are you going to build a hidden armor kit and do you have any particular style picked out yet?

Re: NEWBIE QUESTIONS ANSWERED - Add your Input !!!
Being a dumb nub here-and this being my first post, so's I stop lurking... I'm getting back into heavy fighting, and a friend helped me make plastic legs. Problem is that I don't trust the knees if I get a good stab from someone. Thoughts? Suggestions? I really don't want to replace these given eff...

Re: Croatian armorer on Ebay, anyone heard of him?
Honestly, Ebay would probably ban him for saying he only takes bank transfers as payments. Or you could bid 99 cents and then open up a complaint when he doesn't send the helm pictured in the listing.
I suspect ebay will solve it eventually.

Re: looking for input .....
You asked for input, so here are my thoughts. I really like the shape and especially like the color. But since I do the whole 14th century mafia thing, I'd probably choose to pass on them. My reasoning is that there isn't much evidence for blueing or blackening of armor until the late late (and even...

Re: Battle of the Nations- Team USA
Ah...if I won I would have six sets of the tonlet armour of the Chamberlain of Burgandy made, in spring stainless. Then I would recruit a team of five to go to Battle of Nations in those suits, and we'd use pollaxe. It would be grand! My lady wants to get a doctorate in history. I told her I would ...

OK, I put $2 into the $400 million dollar Powerball lottery. And the better half says that if I win, I can put $100K to going to fight at Battle of Nations. So I've got a chance now!!! They sent the really cute girl around at work to ask for money for the pot. So I too have a few tickets....

Also, what would be the cost of having this done to an existing helm? Is the sandblasting a neccesary step to have a good surface for the powdercoating to attach to? Or is it done to clean up rusty helms?

Considering buying an open face bascinet to supplement my klappvisor. Was looking at one in mild steel, but I live on the gulf coast, mild steel rusts almost overnight here.
