Re: WTB Ottoman Krug Harness
I'm afraid not. I had inadequate padding for under it- Just the plates over some cloth covering the kidneys. The leather and aluminum one, the protection was mostly the leather itself. (The steel one had mail connecting everything, the leather was just some shaped aluminum plates riveted onto decen...

Re: WTB Ottoman Krug Harness
I made and fought in one of these, over 20 years ago. I did not have the tools for fluting, so my center plates were just dished and plain. (Well, technically I made two of them- One was aluminum plates riveted onto a leather cuirraisse, because I had one I made for costuming long before that I jus...

Brigs were usually sleeveless, body and hips only -- while full-length sleeves can be done, they're rather a PITA to get working right, and even then the best known example from a period engraving (16th-c.) had plate elbow cops with lames handling that part of things and it looked to be doing a goo...

Re: There is too much leather armour in the SCA.
Hardly. There is free metal everywhere. I haven't paid a cent for any of the metal I've used in 20-odd years. Old computer cases, recycled fencing wire, coat hangers, junked fridge and car panels, etc. I once made a scale corselet using the metal lames from some trashed transformers. Metal, even bo...

Reference to a completely obscure japanese weapon that no one has ever hear of, only one ever used, in a saga, about a samurai that may or not have existed and an explination of why it's far superior to it's European counterpart (hint, it's magic japansese blacksmiths)
