Just my opinion, thin out the nasal around the eyes, then either have it slim all the way down or have it flare out beneath the eyes maybe? Nasal doesn't feel right to me, only my inexpert opinion.

The real thing I'd be worried about is how many times it can be hit and not splinter. In the video, he is resting the only part of it on the floor, and holding it at an angle, this can make it act more like a spring and reduce the impact force. I'd want to see it on a dummy head to really test. Als...

Experience with professional heat treating shops?

I've been looking into cutting out and shaping a few items in 4130 and having them heat treated by a local place. They have a decent batch fee; with testing comes to about $90. Was talking to the guy, he seemed concerened about the size of the pieces I was using. Specifically, about them floating aw...

Helm size in sq. inches-Need an estimate

Had a quick question. Those who've made armor before, about how many square inches (or square feet) do you think would be required for klappvisor bascinet, roughly size for a 25" head? I'm just trying to get an estimate togehter, and while I can certainly make one based on some patterns here on the ...

Actually Al,would you ever consider making a set in a medium carbin steel and leaving them unstrapped to be tempered by the buyer? Cause I could get behind that.

My inlaws are trying to bulk sell raw, unclean/treated alpaca fiber collected from our pacas over the last few years. Great for spinners, weavers, etc. $30/bag of 1st cut(blanket), and it's usually about 4-5lbs per bag, raw. If you buy more than 3 bags, we'll lower the price to $25/bag.We also have...

Yeah, my understanding is a 50 year spread. I've been targeting 1375 English, a la Richard Pembridge. Leg armor seemed to stay splinted longer than arm protection. All the effigies I see are full articulated arms (or mail) inside 50 years of that. I see some splints for the German armor in the same...

If I'm allowed to throw a full sized slashing spear, then yes. I don't like the silly little silowflex ones though. If that's all we're allowed, I'm dead set against it. And were axes thrown very often? I don't know odd any examples, apart from the frankish. For archery, a fully documentable bow wit...
