With leather, you are looking at three big sellers on the archive.
Thorvaldr does leather gorgets, as does Sir Gavin (Kilkenny) and Magnus of Dark Wyvern.
You should do a quick search of all three before you decide.
All three of them are excellent armorers.

My brother Madach has a set of his aluminum cat's ass gauntlets. The quality is outstanding, especially the thumbs. Certainly triggered a flare up of G.A.S. (Gauntlet Acquisition Syndrome). I hope to see him at Gulf Wars. Eirik, Am I correct in assigning these ratings to your review? Price - not ra...

I placed an order consisting of; a set of knees w/ greeves, elbows and gauntlets in january of this year and I received it by the end of march, which was dead on the time he gave me. The quality of the armour was good, I had to adjust the greeves a little but otherwise everything is very comfortabl...

These guys have butted mail for insanely low prices. I don't have a review of them yet, so I would appreciate it if you would try it, and let me know how it turns out.

Their butted coifs start at nineteen dollars.
I know nothing about the company at all.

fitting/strapping question - spalder twist
gentles, I have never used spalders, but all the newbies I run across want them. I think I don't know the proper way to attach them. I have tried attaching them to a shoulder yoke, and I have tried riveting them to the shoulder straps from body harness. The problem that I am running into is that dur...

I truely doubt that anything like a 'Thor's hammer' ever really existed, most likely early 'war hammers' were simply heavy forge toold pressed into a combat role by nessisity, rather than plan, even later 'armor defeating' hammers relied less on large size/mass and more on narrow-surface-impact. I ...

I had an epiphany
I have been teaching fighters for nineteen years this coming March. I haven't done badly. I have trained some excellent (and very successful) fighters, though, to some extent, one of the things they learned from me was to find a better teacher. Still, I am very proud of my associations with some of ...

OK, I blew it. I just can't do it within nine hundred bucks. I went over by 96 dollars. In my defense, I think that I overestimated things that I had to guess on, like stateside costs of things, and shipping. Also, if you get with one of the sewing folks (usually, but not always a lady) in your loca...

Jestyr, I have to leave right now for a gig, but I will get on this when I get back home. I believe that you can get on the field, with good looking armor and garb, for less than six hundred bucks. Jestyr, You gave me a target date, and I ran with it. If you want to come to a proper period, say, 700 AD, then we can get you into gear for a much more affordable price, with better looking gear. But you did give me a target date. To answer your question, Stonekeep's basic armor is consistently rev...

being flexible on period is a good thing for you, but it makes giving you advice harder. Going with 1350 as a target date is a good idea, for several reasons. A lot of people wear that period, and there is good advice to be had here. Please understand that this is not my period, and all my advice is...

Guys, I have broken four basket hilts in two weeks. I now have six (count 'em) six broken baskets in my shop, waiting for me to get off my butt and fix them. One of the ones I broke this evening was borrowed. So, the money is simply not right to buy anything this week, but who sells those plastic ba...

Yeah, you want thumb protection and finger tip protection under a center grip. A normal half gauntlet doesn't really protect the exposed parts of the hand. There are a lot of ways to do it. The biggest danger is that somebody scooping your sheild will miss the sheild entirely and whack his sheild ed...

I try keep records of reviews. I ask people to rate the transaction on four points, and then, if they do it, put a card in my cardfile for each transaction. It takes a few seconds to ask them to re-write their review for the card file, and a few seconds to make a new card for the transaction. When a...

Guys, I really need help on this. The money accounting needs to be 100% transparent, and absolutely straight up and by the numbers. Really, the best way to do that is to have a group that is already geared up to just accept all the money. In 2005, we had to wire transfer the money, and use a dedicat...
