My SCA rig is mostly black leather. I use it roughly at least once a week. I use Kiwi Shoe polish, and I haven't had a problem with it. I do get a little tired of polishing it, but I have had the armor get rained on at pennsic (accidentlally, not through neglect). I am positive that there are other ...

As far as I know, Dishing and raising are the same thing. I don't know how skilled a metalworker you are, but if you are not already skilled, then learning to shape armor that would count as a decent muscled breastplate is far more expensive than buying a good musclulatora from an established armore...

I have two pells. The one in my barn is made from two tires hanging from a rafter. The upper tire is a small one (a front tractor tire) the lower one is a larger tire. They are suspended, and connected by a length of heavy chain. The effect is kind of like fighting a deranged snowman. The other one ...

When fighting an opponent that I want to kill fast, I think of the "corner" of my sheild as a crosshair sight. I put that "corner" directly in between their eyes and keep it there unless I am moving the sheild for some reason (to block, or to jam, or for some other reason). Of course, I use a center...

It may be that without additional source material (you said there are more pictures) it is impossible to determine the detail...

Where are Rose Barracks, maybe someone living near you knows some sources for cheap leather. Greetings Kalle Thanks for the great links! I have been looking for leather suppliers in Germany for a couple of years, and I have always assumed that it wasn't really available. Rose Barracks is near Amber...

Shaping a plastic Sheild boss
Guys, I am considering making a sheildboss for a young fellow and his sister here that are interested in Youth Combat. I handled one this summer at pennsic that had a plastic sheild boss on an aluminum sheild. That one was used on the youth field too. I think it would be perfect for a nine year old ...

This question came up on the "combat" board not too long ago. There are literally dozens of armourers that make Basket hilts. It seems like there are three different categories for sale. First, there is a basket hilt. These are made with welded steel bars. Sometimes they are quite lovely. These tend...

And I don't want to. I had intended to make a kind of sleeveless buff coat to wear as body armor, getting rid of the meridian belly belt. I have decided that I really need properly fitting vanbraces. My armour protects me adequately except for that damn open spot right above the wrist. I am actually...

The cafeterial lady at any highschool probably has a few that she will part with either for free or for next to nothing. speed does equal power in car crashes and meteorite impacts. With swinging a stick, it gets more complicated. So, my padded fingered gauntlets(16 gauge steel, using strips of a mouse pad as padding) would fall under category iii. I think that this is a worthwhile topic, and I am unwilling to let it be completely derailed yet. I did have the perception that fighting in less armor made a fighter faster, but of late I have thought that this is not always the truth. Many new fighters fight in bare min based on that perception, b...
