Owyn,
thanks for the write up. At my first practice, I wore a gi with a white belt in a gesture of respect. I mean, this was my first day, and I didn't want anybody to think I thought I was an expert at anything.
Where are you stationed?

You know, as I was looking at that guy's ebay store, I had a really, really appalling thought. What if that guy sells the stuff he does, in the manner he does, not because his scolarship is worse than the folks on the archieve, but rather because his salesmanship is better? What if that is what peop...

A dillettente's observations on the martial arts
I have been looking around for a secondary source of sword information and I have noticed some things. Please note that my observations are really just untrained layman's observations. 1) There are a lot of people selling "Sword form" videos, books, DVD's and high priced personal seminars on the int...

I don't normally have this problem. Usually most of the rattan that comes my way is too small. YOu can shave it with a draw knife. You might also run it through a planer, though I have never done that. I am pretty sure that there is one in you local high school woodshop, and it might be possible to ...

If we could I'd make demi-gauntlets optional. While being hit in the back of the hand sucks ass, the quest for a non-intefering, good look, light demi-gauntlet has resulted in much consternation for me... I remove any extra text about women. I would definitely not add anything. Jean Paul You know, ...

Artemis Green, If you can get them right, the gaunts will function great for a long, long time. I have a set of AB gaunts that I traded for fifteen years ago in Memphis. The pattern posted on this thread is a newer design, but the I still love my old style gaunts. I had them reworked about eight yea...

That Guitar guy rambled... I would not add armor at all. Authorization also requires that you demonstrate that you can safely throw and receive a ...

I used to practice combos. I had some success with a flat snap, followed by a step foreward and a sheild press. I have been working on a Lyre for quite some time. I am about to finish some decorative carving, and I want to put a finish on it.
