More pics. In this, I had explained to her about a shield press, and she asked if she could make one, because she wants to make a curved shield. I said yes, and then it appeared my shop exploded. http://img518.imageshack.us/img518/7339/morriganpics001.jpg http://img99.imageshack.us/img99/273/morriga...

Doug, you have a lovely helm. I really respect the fact that you wish you had gone with a more accurate representation of that statue, but the helm turned out great. I would be honored to possess a helm like that. A seasoned fighter is able to make informed decisions about small details (and it is a...

One thing to remember about using a home built suspender system is that they can restrict shoulder movement. Don't make them out of leather. Instead, do as the earlier poster suggested and simply wear some home depot (or Llowes, or true value, or whatever) elastic suspenders. And make sure that the ...

O'tuathail, I keep a card file of the reviews of armor purchases reviewed here. I have been missing quite a few reviews lately, but I believe my information is not particularly out of date yet. It would be helpful to some here if you could be more specific. I started this thread if you are a little ...

Changes in HYW Armor during the 14th Cent?
Guys, I don't know a thing about the hundred year's war, armor wise. Wait. That isn't entirely true. I know that there were bascinets, CoP's, globose breastplates, the occasional kettle hat. I am sort of thinking that a sugar loaf or two might be around too. And the famous "archer knees" B...

Lost my fire? Ha! I'm a friggin' white-hot rocket burning in the atmosphere. I'm finding out that my body was made for this. Gym time continues. Stick time starts May 1st. Worked my obliques today, so I have a stronger core with which to smack my opponents. I will be fast. I will be strong. I will ...

For me its not about the shouting and railing to get into armor. I more like to see someone stick to their guns and motivate others to keep going and that is what you are doing Freiman. {freiman's snip} My first stop is Double Wars. actually, the Chuckit device seems to take care of the safety issues. Nobody is going to be choked with the thing. We will need to make sure that the butt end is too big to fit in through a faceplate, but other than that, it would be no less safe than a shield edge. It also LOOK like a sling, though...

I had a great time tonight! (Korean Sword Art Haidon Gumdo)
I attended a Korean Haidon Gumdo class at the gym on the base tonight. Some of you will remember that I have been looking for a competent instructor to teach me an eastern sword form. Well, it turns out that there is a class (thirty bucks a month) at the gym on the base. I was warned that Master Beh...

Look guys, Pennsic starts in 111 days. This thread started ninety three days ago. Look at yourself in the mirror. See, with unromantic eyes, the amount of progress that you have made. Watch yourself at practice. See the way you are competing compared to the other fighters in your area. You are respo...
