Who are today's Big Sticks?

Gentles,

A few years ago, I asked this question on the archive.

Who are the Big Sticks? Who are the very best fighters that the SCA has to offer?

When I joined, the answer to that question was "Jade and Bearkiller", but that might not be the answer today.

I like triggers because it doesn't take more than a few seconds to swap weapons. Using a lanyard seems to make it take a lot longer. I blew out my trigger on the pell today. I need to remake it. They really do make it a lot easier to hold onto your weapon. I also have the perception that it helps me...

Thanks, I have been trying to come up with something inspirational to say today, and I am just coming up short. Sometimes you just have to go and do it. I am back. You have 149 days. Since I started this thread, I have been in pretty much constant training. I had a week where I was sick, and a four day period where I failed a gut check. That has been fifty five days. That is just over a quarter of the training time available to you. If you haven't b...

I built a wagon (actually a wheelbarrow) to carry stuff. I think my armor has been on it once. The wagon is usually used to wheel kids around the campsite lately. I wear my stuff to the field. I have a kind of mass produced "Renn" pouch that carries my card, wallet, smokes and other stuff,...

Freiman, I am not sure if I am gonna make sense here, but there is a point where your progress will no longer be a Cartesian straight line going up but you will get increasingly diminished returns for the same increase in effort, so your progress line looks no longer like a linear equation: G. We are approaching this incorrectly. Instead of thinking about what why we can't devise a standard sizing method, let's talk about what we CAN do. I don't have a clue where this is going to go, but we an do SOMETHING. While we might not be able to devise a standardized system that will be universall...

Naw, if you have rigid torso protection you are fine.

Of course, if your torso protection doesn't protect your kidneys and short ribs, it isn't really torso protection.

You might wear one as a marshal deflector, but otherwise, you're golden.
