I am in the group who takes a solid blow to any part of my helmet that proves to me that I was bested. I don't believe that the SCA should use the words killing or disabling blow as most of the shots I get hit with and accept would not fit in that category and I could just as easily use those words ...

The marshals also don't want to see something that will damage your opponants weapons. I know someone who welded a bunch of 1" steel squares all over the outside of his helmet and the marshals wouldn't let him use it because it would tear up everyones rattan. He told me that he made it that way so p...

Was this material called Trimlock? I (and everyone in my group) use a car door edging that has a metal band in the middle of it. It usually lasts around 6 months before it needs to be replaced, but the good thing is that it's cheap, light, and you don't need to hold it on with rope, or ties. (^_^) -...

Hi everyone I started working on another domed greathelm today and realized I forgot how I went about attaching the domed section to the assembled top section -I literally had to sit back, smoke a cigar, drink a beer, and figure out how to do it. Are you refering to the spun round shields at GW? You would have to cut a hole to put a centerboss on it so perhaps you should try strapping it first. Try it out for awhile and see how you like it.
