Duke Logan: Face thrusts can be deadly and in themselves an art form. However I do know what you mean. Most people do not thrust properly -they look more like fencers then fighters (no offense to fencers intended as I am one also). Thrusting should be almost instictive. It should come out of nowhere...

Thanks Anvil Dragon; That was the post I was looking for -a balance in the force! I knew not everyone was "touchy" about face thrusts. The inter-kingdom events are the ones that worry me also, but in the oposite direction. I like solid, un-impeded blows that signify to me that I have been bested. Not killed, or maimed, but bested. This goes for face thrusting as well. I am worried that I will get my little head caved in at some of ...

Thrusting -SCA
How is Thrusting handled in your Kingdom (calibration, acceptance, etc) and what do you think about it? I am a enthusiastic thruster, especially face thrusts and I believe that if the SCA is going to allow excessive calibration (my opinion of blows capable of crushing 16g steel) then hard face thrus...

It's an SCA helmet if you want to walk around an event with a helmet on your head, but don't try to fight in it. 16g steel is legal and safe if your opponents are not trying to crush your skull. Would you expect him to take the blow? (...
