Actually: Wankels/Wankles are period! They were used during the first half of the 12th century. They usually had more of a heater shaped bottom, but the traditional SCA wankel was used from 1210 -1230 in England and France. They were basically a transition shield between round shields and heater shi...

Is upholstery leather good for CoP's?
I have a large piece of upholstery leather laying around and I'm wondering if it is strong enough to make a Coat of plates out of. It is about 2-3oz leather. What do you think??
Thanks for your imput.

1)Have you ever ramped up the power of your blows in a fight after an opponent did not take a shot you felt landed solidly? Yes, but not to the point that I thought it would be unsafe. To be honest, I don’t swing much harder –I just try to follow through better. 2)Have you ever ramped up to a po...

I don't like falling down in combat, and I rarely do. Instead I shout "GOOOOOD" very load and quickly back away from my oponant while still keeping my guard up. I then bow down and salute to them that I have been bested. However I don't complain if someone hits me a few extra times after I say good ...

The role of SCA marshals.
With all the posts about calibration and people getting upset about others not taking their blows, I was wondering what everyone felt about the roles of the marshals. In some kingdoms the marshals have almost limitless authority, while in other kingdoms they might as well not even be present. What d...

I figured that I might as well add my two cents worth. I don't like baskethilts at all, but if we are going to allow them then they should at least be metal. Can you dish in a centergrip boss??
I haven't had the time or luck to get another log for dishing large pieces of armor, but I do have a nice sized 14g center boss laying around that I could use as a dish.
