Egfroth: How much harder then a spagnhelm would you say this helmet is to make? It actually looks much easier to make then say a bascinet. I realize that my first, and even second attempt will probably not come out very well (the reason for my "mess it up and trash it" statement) but I have to learn...

Egfroth: Too cool!! I have a friend who has been looking for a byzantine type SCA helmet and this would work great. Do you mind if I use your pattern to make a similar helmet. I will give it the old college try on my own if I must, but the pattern would make it a little easier for me to mess it all ...

were these shield true triangles or are you refering to Wankel styled shields? Just curious as I love playing around with different shield styles and would be very interested if the shield you are refering to is not a wankel

My centergrip shield is covered in heavy canvas that was then painted with a muti colored celtis knotworking -I love it and I can't wait to make my heater shield in the same style.

I use a thick fuel line hose which I apply after painting my shield with my device. I then make a cloth shield cover with my device that helps protect the paint job. When my shield cover gets all but destroyed, I can remove it and still have a device on my shield.

Same as above, but make sure the heater is in the proper position when you figure out that comfort area. I knew someone who strapped a heater comfortably only to have it be worthless since he couldn't move his arm enough to put the points where they should be. (^_^) [This message has been edited by ...

Darius Serpentius: I find that the reason that more complaints are "filed" for melee reasons is simple -a total disregard for the rules. In both your cases the rules were broken. Excessive force (anyone denting 12g steel is way out of line), striking a fallen opponant, and striking a person from beh...

In regards to the calibration differances between kingdoms, and unbelts/belts, etc: I would have to agree with Sir Vitus 110%. I think the entire rules in regards to a good blow should be rewritten from scratch. I can see why some people swing to hard (in my humble opinion) and/or only accept bonebr...

WOW!

Cool tourney. Just out of curiosity, how many blows would I recieve with:

Unarmored wieght= 145 lbs
Armored wieght= 225 lbs

That's 7 blows right?

My Midrealm and Meridian shields are: 24" x 25" Heater 24" Centergrip round 28" Wankel (which I would cut down to 24" but it was a gift from my knight before I was squired.) This is a great topic because I am alittle annoyed at all the barn door shield down here in Meridies. In the Middle there were...

I don't believe the marshals should interfere with a fight (except for saftey issues of coarse) unless the blows are very obvious. I fought a Knight up in the Midrealm a month of so ago that was just not going to accept any blows from anyone ranked under him. I nailed him with a devastating leg shot...

I'm happy for those people (now like me) that can get free metal to play with because it was next to impossible up where I use to live -everyone recycled any scrape.

If your opening up on the right, then you should fight as a right handed shieldman -practicing with that big shield on your right is only going to confuse you more when you put a sword back in it.
