I use to just drive through McDonalds and grab 3 breakfast burritoes as I leave town. This allows me to last until dinner (where I pig out) and I'm not sick to my stomach all day.

Thanks everyone for the interesting replies. I basically make munition armor most of the time and I was just curious how everyone else defines it. My munition type armor is made from the same metal as my nicer armor, but without the sanding and polishing -plainishing is not as refined in some cases....

I do not belive that 18g wire will hold up to combat even if rivited -it's just not strong enough to absorb blunted rattan strikes...

I feel that most people avoid the mace weapons for the speed factor. It's much faster (and easier) to slip that sword between your opponants gaurd then that mace or axe. I was hit this friday with a low profile thrusting tip directly in the shin -and it hurt like hell. I think I would be weary of a 1/4" tip too.

SCA by far. Why?


Well besides the wearing heavy armor and getting hit alot, an SCA fighter who does any kind of melee events will posses a little knowledge and understanding of war. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think the other groups do alot of large melee's.

You can also check out any local junk yards -sometimes they turn up there.

Yes they are thick enough, but each sign is different. I have two shields made from street signs. One is perfect, while the other one could be better...

My advice is to use 16g aluminum for areas that do not get hit alot. I used 18g aluminum for my elbows, knees, and body armor for years -so 16g would be better. I would say no for gauntlets unless you don't get hit in the hand. Also remember that aluminum gets stronger as yo dish it, so 16g aluminum...

Well you get a much better grip with a halfgauntleted baskethilt, but I prefer gauntlets. Of coarse I like gauntlets better because I prefer tip heavy swords.
