Mine ground out -at least the one I have here at the house does. I suppose it depends on how the gauntlet is attached and worn, but i designed mine to ground out to protect the thumb.

Hello! I'm looking for a small helm, for SCA adventures! My measurements are 21 1/2", so it should be around 22-23 to add in padding if necessary. I don't mind if its dinged up, especially if the price is right Thanks! Kelly KatKelly28@yahoo.com Most people prefer 3"- 4" for padding....

The helm is a steel at that price. I am seriously looking for a good rivited chainmaille deal, but this one is a bit too big for little ole me -why can't there ever be a size small one on here for sale?
