If the piece was parafin waxed (usual) it is possible to change the color to a degree go to a crafts store, and pick up wax, wax hardner, and wax color (used to color candles) You'll have to reheat the piece to drive out some of the old wax , and either paint wax on, or dunk it into the waxpot with ...

"Enough room for yourself and a small telephone pole." The advantage of this is that the rings will close in, and it will take a while to outgrow it. At any rate, mine's over 30 years old, and I haven't outgrown it yet. On the other claw, I did take-in and flare-out when I made it, so any extra wei...

The outer layer will be slightly larger. I don't know what you're weating with the gambeson - I fight in mail so mine is about 1/4 - 3/8 inch overall with additional padding on the kidneys solar plexis, balls of the hips etc. heavy wool scraps come in very handy for stablizing the batting and adding...

Well in the 12th century you need it alot more. Honestly if i did not have the possibliy of being _forced_ to fight from my knees. I likely would wear nothing but "bullwarks of wool" (i think thats how they put it) on my knees beneeth my armour. To me that looks alot more like braces for the knees,...

I like emery cloth with a bit of oil on the metal, after a few moments you'll wind up with a nice thin paste of oil, abrasives, and gunk that you've removed from the steel, as it dries add a drop or two more oil. When you're done remove it by wiping the steel down with a piece of buckskin, elkskin o...

All that aside I'm mainly using the planishing to remove the de...
