My pleasure. By using a basket with an attached cuff, you alleviate the need to make a demi gauntlet, handy if you are trying to get these guys on the field fast. Make sure you replace these with more attractive baskets once everyone has a chance.

Maille scraps for trade

About two years ago I blew my birthday money on about 8000 aluminum 14 gauge 3/8" rings from The Ring Lord. My plan was to make one of those mantle-shirts for boffer fighting, which I never finished assembling. So, I'm offering it up for trade. Included is: *One rectangular patch, about 25"X9" *One ...

Cheap Norman-esque dress helms?

Hey all Every August the local SCA, along with a number of my friends, go out and participate in the local Scottish Highland Games. The day's events wrap up with about an hour of boffer war fighting with a theme from Scottish history. Last year the SCA were all Orkney Vikings and their club was Isle...

Don't put everything together, leave the elbow, vambrace and rerebrace seperate, perhaps pointed to an undergarment or to a sports pad. Use leather, and form it to your body after soaking it in hot water (I assume you're familiar with making hardened leather armour). Likely the vambrace could be wor...

I think you will find that the maille is just rusting because you are working with it, and not wearing it. I once sold a friend a butted iron shirt that had quite a bit of storage rust on it; he returned it a week later with an apology, saying he couldn't afford it. He had been wearing around the ho...
