I made a single splinted arm for our loaner suit, I opened a bench-mounted vice about 3 inches, draped a heavy piece of leather over it, and hammered my splints over the opening using a rubber hammer, they look to have come out pretty smooth.

There is a really good armourer up here who plays a Viking persona, and has modified a pair of splinted greaves so that they cover the parts of the knee outlined in the SCA armourer standards, without the rounded cop. He's a pretty good fighter, I don't think he wears cuisses of any type. Doesn't lo...

Tooled leather Tavl board for sale/trade

Hi all, another item up for grabs. This is a 9X9 tavl/hnefatavl board I made out of 14 ounce leather. The squares are tooled on, and there is quite a bit of decorative tooling on the board. The middle square has a valknut, each corner square has a stylized raven (copied from a Swedish rune stone). I...

leather scales/lamellae for sale/trade

I have 124 loose leather scales which I won't be using anymore. Each is 2"X4" and scalloped (tombstone shaped). The leather is 12 OZ-14 OZ, and wax hardened. In my opinion, there is enough scales to make a full armour for a small guy, a breast & back for an average sized guy, or a wide body belt for...

Gambeson for sale

Still more stuff, I have to finance new garb and armour. I have a Gilded Lily gambeson, off white with black trim. These are great gambesons, vertical stitching, skirt has four slits (front and back, and each side) Sleeves are held on with velcro, which is unfortunate. I meant to replace the velcro ...

Rather than lining your helmet with lead, perhaps adding a really heavy maille aventail? Like 5/16" 14 gauge, covering all the way to the balls of your shoulders?
