Knees for sale

I have a set of CLANG archer knees I bought some while back, and never really got around to using. They are size 'extra large', knee cop with five articulations, a demi cuisse and a demi greave (7 piece total). Total length from top to bottom is 16" with the leg straight, measurement across the insi...

White Mountain Armoury helm for sale

Hey all, I have a helm from Adam Berry which I'm going to sell off, to help finance a new hat (most likely also from Adam). You all know the excellent caliber of his work, and I've done my best to take good care of this helm in the 2 or so years I've been fighting in it. Size is XL, will fit anywher...

Macpherson armour on Ebay!!!

It's enough to make a guy switch to a 14th century portrayal, and the bidding is at $100.

Thanks so far for your replies so far. I'm also wondering, does your group let new fighters keep the armour, use the armour at events, or does the Marshall/Baron/someone core keep the stuff with them, and let folks borrow it for the day? I'm working on a loaner suit, and looking for ideas for what t...

SCA fighter survey

Hi, I'm just wanting to run a quick survey; please say where you are from (branch and kingdom), describe the loaner suit of armour (including shield & sword)in your SCA branch, and rate it on a scale of 1 to 10 in terms of function and comfort (and authenticity, if you feel so inclined). Maybe you'v...

In a positive sense, a stickjock is somebody who loves the fighting to the point of single-mindedness. I have a really cool pair of Alistair shoes which I wear with my garb. At a tournament a couple years ago, a face thrust from a greatsword broke my chinstrap 20 minutes in, so I pulled the laces ou...

I too think you guys look great. What are you using for shield edging? Hose is the standard issue here, but it looks crappy, and it's impossible to use your shield to glance spear-thrusts with a giant pizza-crust around the edge. Whatever you have there is nice and low-profile, and improves the look...

http://www.armourarchive.org/patterns/demigaunt/ I've used that pattern to make several pair of leather demi-gaunts, and it's great. I've added an almond-shaped piece that rests about 50% on top of the metacarpel (narrow end facing in) & articulates on a leather, it works really well for covering y...

BTW, due to the nature of aluminum shields, if you order two, I'll give you free shipping on the second one. They are really light, and only .10 thick, so stacking two only changes the weight of the package by a couple pounds, and the size of the package my a miniscule amount. There's room on the sh...

You can lace them with about 25% overlap, if you are willing to stagger the plates. I know of no historical precedent for staggered plates, but they work well. I will draw up a little JPEG and e-mail it to you.

Totally unrelated, but why does bronze hold up to the test of millenia so much better than iron and/or steel? I assume that green patina is bronze's equivalent to rust, but doesn't it corrode the meatl at all? Many ancient bronze pieces look like they would still be functional, whereas iron pieces 1...

There is no gapping. The lames are curved, on some top-of-the-line limb armour the lames are dished slightly, but most SCA folks are using articulated armour with simple curved lames. These knees have the usual SCA curved lames, which funtions fine from my experiences.
