I got a pair of $16 Aviation snips for Xmas, and am blown away by what a great tool these are for cutting thick leather. The exacto knife works, but I find you have to go over to cut three or four times before you're all the way through the hide. This sometimes results in these strange extra cuts al...

Thorolf Skalalgrimsson's Halberd is described quite clearly in Egil's Saga as a spear, two ells long, with four edges. I haven't read it in Icelandic/Old Norse (like I could), so I can't vouch for what is said in the original translation. I personally interpret 'four edges' to mean the spear was dia...

The fans are perfect, they cover enough to do the job, but are small enough to not interfere with a pair of blousey pants (I wouldn't plan on sliding my Levi's Relaxed Fit over these). These are the smooth finish, the haircell isn't available anymore.

Alchemy Armoury- Review

Well, I received one awesome set of Alchemy Armoury legs in the mail today. Played with them a bit, and thought I would post a quick review. They are really well made, Dale uses forms instead of just bending the plastic with his hands, and it shows in the even smoothness of the plastic & the perfect...

Stephen, could I recommend you order a couple pounds of rings from a supplier and just weave in a pair of strips to make the maille fit? It's a great price to let it slip away, and the rings would only cost you about $12. Check www.theringlord.com I've bought loose rings & imported riveted maille fr...

Ugo's work is so distinctive & beautiful, but I've always wondered about a signature detail of his. Lamellar would also be a viable option. There are two archaeological finds of lamellar armour dated to the Migration era from Germany, and two more that, while not in Germany, are attributed to Germanic tribes which would have exchanged soldiers and goods with tribes living in Germany. Master Geoffr...

I think you should put a 1300's & 1400's timeframe on it as well. If you are allowing Romans, Normans or Norsemen into the lists, under the condition that they wear a greater burden than their persona would have, it's senseless. Also, I think you would get a much more pleasing aesthetic if everyone'...
